Any chance of getting something implemented to allow players to wear their best armor for stats, but be able to wear clothing/armor on top (statless) so ppl can all look different instead of everyone wearing composite or Ris etc? Not important, but helps immersion and just makes the world seem more expansive.

Say I am wearing 80% comp and I show as wearing only clothing. Equipment is standard throughout the galaxy, you shoudl be able to easily recognize what armor and weapon your opponent is using.

I disagree, why would a one give away their info in a battlefield? Officers would take off any symbol of rank so not to be targeted by snipers. I would think just rping aspect would make sense. If a bher is hunting someone, why give themselves away by showing up in mando gear? I think misinformation is important part in battle, often overlooked in favor of which side has more guns.

making clothing act like armor does isn't misinformation, it's changing a whole game mechanic.

they aren't talking about making clothing act as armor. it would be like putting clothing on over your armor.Lyris wrote:making clothing act like armor does isn't misinformation, it's changing a whole game mechanic.

Plenty of games have appearance tabs. Gives you a lot more customization for your character and a sense of uniqueness. Not knowing exactly what armor someone might have on is actually a fun thing, and it means the extent of my uniqueness won't be the color of composite I go with today.
I like the idea.

Yeah, shooting at a guy wearing a cloth jacket that has 80% energy resist just doesn't make any sense to me. It's so easy to put on and mix/match clothing/armor without affecting the gameplay in any way.

This opens would open the opportunity to hunt in a fleshwrap or a dress or in your underware. Honestly, who wants that?
Armors are armors and it's good they look like armors. However, I've seen an NPC wearing a nice coat over a composit breast plate what looks nice, so this would get a +1 from me.

It wont take long to know who is rocking what in pvp which is only a small part of a huge game. The ability to look how you want will only make the game look more expansive and each toon as unique as they can. One is more likely to see 20 ppl buffing or standing around wearing diff colors of the same armor everywhere than one would spend time pvping. Personally, seeing everyone wearing the same armors/clothes just looks stale and i like to cruise around without a helmet or backpack showing and messing up the look I want for certain characters. Its of course no big deal, but this is my suggestion.

I for one like the idea. That's one of the things I actually liked about the nge, was the appearance tab. I don't like having to show a helmet on all the time, I like being able to wear what I want instead of having everyone being composite clones

I LOVED the appearance tab in NGE. My favorite outfit was a Tie Pilot Survival suit + BH Helm, Chest, boots & gloves. I so badly want to get my hands on another set of BH armor for this reason alone lol

Eh, if you want to look a particular way, you should have to deal with the lack of armor that comes with wearing clothing instead of armor. Having an appearance tab is easymode.

I think this is a bad idea
For example somebody is running around in what looks like Chitin Armour - which would tend to point towards kinetic protection and crappy base resists - so I pull out my T21 and shoot them a few times - but wait wtf they are in fact wearing energy based comp under their appearance tab! Uh oh... bad choice of weapon based on incorrect appearance information

That's fine but again, PvP very small part of very large game. Was buffing in CNET just today and everyone in there was wearing composit. In PvP not everyone gonna be wearing the same armor anyway so u should be prepared to switch weapons etc.

PvP is very much a part of Pre-CU SWG. More so than later versions...
Honestly, in my opinion, NGE was what ultimately killed SWG and that was ushered in by placating those who wanted to farm faction but didn't want to defend it. SWG wasn't supposed to be WoW and to try and adapt it to a WoW style game doesn't work.
There are definitive sides... (or you can be neutral). If someone chooses to be Rebel or Imperial, they really should be fighting for that side... in every way.
