after 10 years of SWG i am tired of things being the same, can we blow up coronet and have it be the PVP zone so everyone moves to a new city.
it would really make this server unique
also, would it be possible for NPC cities to have a reduced form of city specialization like player cities have?
10 year fatigue

speaking of designated pvp areas. I remember there was at least one place like that on Tatooine when I played before the CU. Did they ever get enabled in live? It sounds liek a cool idea.

I have somewhat of an idea. How about we allow player cities to purchase a starport if they are a metropolis
. That way the player cities would become very significant. But make a certain set of requirements met to qualify. Then limit it to 2 player cities per planet would be able to get it at any one time.
Just a thought. Make the construction of a starport a special schematic only purchasable after requirements are met. Politician purchases and learns schematic that is one use and make it require resources from every planet. Gas from this planet, steel from that planet, Ore from another, etc etc.
It would be something pretty fun and pretty different, and Players would pretty much have control of the "hang out". They could be designated "factional" as well causing your npc's to spawn within your city as protection

I always found it sort of sad in LIVE that even within the first couple of months that I played they went from letting you start your character off on any of several planet/city combos (I picked Tyrena in honor of Han Solo) to only the major beginner cities to eventually only the Tutorial Station... and then when you made it planetside you realized there were dozens of virtual ghost towns that were built and served no major purpose, unless you needed a place to quietly grind or hide out...
I recall efforts from time to time by some of the guilds to promote content, usually in the form of scavenger hunts, murder mystery parties, etc. where they would advertise and all group somewhere like Doaba Guerfel, Nashal, Deeja Peak, etc. there would be door prizes, duels, races, contests, etc. but the Hologrind and eventually NGE were on their way to making most of those cities/planetscapes unnecessary...
So much untapped potential... :-[

each city in this game has something unique and special about it but its always been either cnet or ME as the hub and its so ingrained in people that it would take dev action, perhaps increased faction NPC and local NPC police difficulty and aggro could liven up some alternate hubs based on faction control

If you want to bring activity to a different area, offer competitive services at much lower prices. Find other local clans of opposing faction to war with and organize pvp locally. For the nonpvpers in the clans, organize theme park runs regularly. The reason people end up at the same places is consistency and activity. Both of these things are within player control. If you have a clan and a player city or just a desire to make an npc city a hub, you just need a group of dedicated services that are consistently available at better prices and lots of player activities to draw people in. I played live from launch to nge and spent most of my time on Dantooine, unless i was going somewhere to do something specific elsewhere.

Also, i dont mean to just run clan events to bring activity. That wont draw people in from anywhere else. Thats just self promoting your clan. You need to organize events with people of all different clans or clanless people and advertize your intentions/agenda for the day. These forums are a great place to advertize for an alternative hub and what you have going on there.
I think to have any kind of consistency in an alternative location, you need to have a group of dedicated service providers, which most likely will be a clan led initiative, but the goal cannot be to further the clan and its recruitment, but to bring in the public in general instead. A clan based initiative, to offer cheaper services at an alternative hub, would just make them leaders in that community, working with all others who promote an alternative hub to cnet.

Well I see no problem with either of the things you said.
1. If a guild is the one doing the promoting and their method's are effective then they in essence are a leader of the community. Strong guilds tend to influence the theater of operations in this game, and it has always been that way.
2. I see no reason not to promote it to the community as a whole without expectations of "growing" your guild. I know Minoc has invited any crafter to to come live in their city and enjoy bonuses. I know New Alderaan is close to dropping a cantina and running groups from there. I know Drei Monde consistantly runs groups and has a Buff house running most of the time unless their is a server hick up on reset. ALL THREE are on Naboo ... as a result some things have shifted drastically toward Naboo, while other's have remained in Cnet.
I think the same will happen with Dantooine soon enough as the server stability is increasing and the population is steadily increasing. It would be nice to see a few cities on Dantooine and also a few on Lok materialize.
People need to be adventerous though and spread out and not lump them all in the same area!
