Saw it on the IMAX at the science museum in London. Was exhausted by the end had to move head to see whole scenes. No spoilers here out of respect for the memory of Chewbacca.
But.... the best SW film ever. Though didn’t appreciate Disney trying to sneak Christianity into it. (Discuss after Xmas once everyone has seen it)

This is probably the best Star Wars film to date. Times change, stories change, movies change. If you don't keep up with the times, you will be forever lost in the past. Without Disney, Star wars would have been dead in 2005. This was a truly excellent movie. I look forward to seeing more.MikeMike wrote:Didn't think they manage to do something worst then the Rogue, but they did it! :'( RIP Star Wars!

Some people are just stuck in the past..........
Except when it comes to SWG of course
Storylines evolve. We gotta get the current and next generations interested in the Fiction. Otherwise yes, you will truly have RIP Star Wars. People have to got to let go of the candle for episodes 4-6. Yes they were great, but they weren't perfect. Personally I thought the movie was very good. A little over the top at times for sure. Good none the less. Suck it up buttercups.
......and yes someone definitely dies in the beginning, in the middle, and at the end.

Returning from my own exile for a moment, thank god more or less positive reactions here. I was losing my mind reading reactions of people talking about how it was the worst Star Wars (literally - like enjoying Ep 1/2 more).

Just got back from seeing it.
I guess I am in the minority. I didn't like it. I loved The Force Awakens. This film wasn't a very good follow up. Its all opinion. My son and daughter loved it, so I guess for them, Disney did their job. Another 40 something that was sitting a row ahead of me with his sons was a huge star wars. Our family were talking star wars with him and his family before the trailers started on the screen. After the movie was done, he looked at me and said, " That was weird".
I actually like the prequels better now after seeing, "The last jedi". The new film moved too fast in different directions, characters show up out of the blue at times, and seem so disconnected from the genre of star wars. There are a lot of surprises, but I was disappointed with every surprise. I will always wonder what George Lucas's Outline for the sequels were going to be. When George Lucas says its like being divorced from a long marriage after he sold it all to Disney, I was feeling that feeling in the Last Jedi.
Trying to be spoiler free for those who haven't seen it. Favorite Scene the Tie Fighter chase of the Millennium Falcon on certain planet near the end of the film. Worst scenes, I can't say without spoiling it.
With Abram's back at the helm for episode 9, i might go see it. But I wont be wondering about it for the next two years. He has his work cut out for him for a final last Saga film.
Star Wars film ranking by Narrk. Empire Strikes Back #1, A New Hope #2, Revenge of the Sith #3, Return of the Jedi #4, Rogue One #5, The Force Awakens #6, The Phantom Menace #7, Attack of the Clones #8, The Last Jedi #9
Narrk, "Catch" you later.

I see you are one of the many that ranks Empire Strikes Back as the best star wars film. To me, that one is the weakest of the original trilogy, yea yea, I know, unpopular opinion, but it is my opinion.skyhunter11 wrote:Just got back from seeing it.

I was 5 years old when Star Wars came out, when i heard there was a sequel in the making, I couldn't wait to see a confrontation between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Luke would face the villain who killed his father, then I find out the Darth Vader is his father, blew my 8 year old mind. I couldn't believe it. I thought he was lying. I waited three more years to find out if it was true or not. It was the talk of all my friends. It was a kid experience I felt and dreamed. When I leave this life one day, I have will have many fond memories I will cling to in my dying mind, that will be one of fondest among them. That is why Empire is the best movie ever for me, because I was lucky enough to be alive at that time to experience it unspoiled. It's my opinion based on a child's experience. Others will differ.

Ranking them will always stir a debate. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I think they could have done much better than casting Hayden Christensen and Adam Driver. Two of the biggest dullards that are like that kid who is the robot textbook reader from your elementary school years. You know the one I’m talking about. They weren’t stupid and they could read just fine. Thiey just read it very robotic like. Same with their acting. I guess Hayden had some looks maybe?
In any event there have been a lot of mistakes over the years from Jar-Jar, to changing force ghosts, creepy yoda puppet being replace by cgi, etc. I wasn’t a huge fan of Ridley in the first film, but she grew on me a little in this one. I also didn’t care for Sam Jackson’s acting in 1-3. It’s like he was reading part of the script from a email on his iWatch at times....even though they weren’t invented then. A Sith...Lord? Was he puzzled by that statement from Anakin? Was he asking a question? Did they film that scene before he knew what a Sith Lord was in the storyline? Lol no one will ever know I guess.
You get my point. People will walk away from a movie confused then water-cooler talk and Christmas conversations with nerds in the family that read the books will clear up any unanswered questions. For those wanting more info on Snoke than what you have acquired so far I recommend reading the book adaption of the Force Awakens. Google can also be your friend as actors and wiki sites are full of collaborative info.

I look at the whole movie now and outside of the battle on Hoth in the beginning and the lightsaber duel at the end there just wasn't a whole lot going on. Sure, there are some important story-related scenes, but not TOP movie quality in my opinion.
Also, anyone trying to compare these new movies from movies from 30-40 years ago, yeah, they aren't going to be in the same category.
I think these newer movies are still better than any of the prequels by miles.

I know this scene and, after playing many games and reading some expanded universe stuff, I think his reaction was more like "are you serious? a sith lord? how could they have returned without us knowing" kind of thing. They were supposed to have been all wiped out some time beforehand, thanks to Darth Bane and his "rule of two" there were only a few sith. now a few thousand years earlier, in the old republic days, there were tons of sith and jedi. One reason I want to see a movie from that timeline.Cynar wrote: I also didn’t care for Sam Jackson’s acting in 1-3. First time ever I have felt disappointed after watching a star wars movie. I preferred trade negotiations to this film.
