I noticed that too. The first order destroys the bridge, Leia is injured, Admiral Ackbar and crew are dead, then the resistance is back on a functional bridge. It looks like the main bridge of ship.

It seemed alot more like star trek than star wars.

Yeah I felt like Snoke's story was to be told in another movie or medium, novels perhaps? I want to know what's up with his forehead if nothing else. I would love a series of books about his becoming a Sith and gaining his Supreme Leader position.

The one thing that drove me nuts is that there seemed to be no reason for Holdo to be on the capital ship at first. She wasn't actually flying it, or anything, up until she decided to sacrifice herself. That bit I actually loved, but I wished that it had been her plan all along. Then it would have made sense beyond "a captain/leader goes down with her ship". She wasn't actually acting rebel boss anymore at that point right? Why didn't Leia stay on the ship? I am mostly kidding, that would have been nonsense as well. I just wished they had set out that Holdo knew it was the only way for them to escape. There were a good 5-10 minutes where there was no reason for her to stand on the self flying ship while it did nothing.

Also did they actually evac the medical and other support ships? It seemed like everyone on those died without comment?

If it seems like I didn't like the movie I actually loved it. It had the magical weirdness that I originally liked with Star Wars. It's the reason I've been driven to try to get back into Awakening, honestly. The universe is still awesome.

I went in with zero expectation. I just wanted to see a Star Wars movie. I already figured it wouldnt be "the best ever", so that shielded alot of disappointment. But there were a few things I didnt like.

1) The opening scene felt more like a campy scene from Buffy, than a Star Wars movie. Not a fan at all, it made it hard to take anything with Holdo seriously after that point.

2) Luke tossing the saber? Didnt feel right.

3) Luke considering murdering Kylo felt more like something Bilbo Baggins would have done to protect the ring, than something Luke did to protect...the galaxy? Huge departure from Luke's previous story arc, in my opinion.

4) Rey's training was all of about 8 minutes. Fastest Jedi ever.

5) Rose stops Finn from sacrificing himself to save the rebellion...because of a crush? They crack the door open anyway, collosal blunder.

6) Leia survives exposure to the vacuum, then drags herself back into the ship? Why not have the blast put her in a coma? Felt like something right out of Harry Potter.

7) Snoke was disappointing. Could have done so much more with that. Also felt like they were simply reshooting the Emporer's death scene from RoTJ.

All in all, I blame bad writing and worse directing. Rian Johnson has GOT to go.

There are a lot of problems, but the one thing I'd really like corrected is to stop writing in comedic spots. I love comedy, but trying to force funny moments into Star Wars fails. Eps 4, 5, and 6 were amusing because Han, Luke, and Leia got go "play" off each other, not because they were written to funny. There are a lot of ways to say "scruffy-looking nerfherder" or to have characters bicker with each other, but watching Leia, Han, Luke, and the other original characters do it added the right amount of amusement to the story. Scripted comedy like JarJar in eps. 1, 2, and 3 didn't work and all the cliche "funny" moments really enforced the "Disney" feel of the movie. I had a similar thought after the end of ep.7, there were moments that were too Disney and not Star Wars, just had a whole lot more of those moments in ep. 8.

I did like that Leia demoted and then shot Poe for being self-important and thinking he knew everything. For most of the movie, I sat in the theater with dread, thinking my Star Wars let me down by writing up a commander who had to be "shown up" by the boy because the boy knew just what should be done and she did not. Nothing against Poe, but seen that plotline too many times before. If all Disney princesses were allowed to shoot the stupid, I'd like them a whole lot better.

I want a crystal critter. Looks a lot like a jax but with glitter!

I still kinda like the last jedi. :)

The crystal critters are called Vulptex after the name of foxes, Brit red foxes are Vulpes vulpes. Apparently the crystals form on the hairs as the Crait is mineral rich :) Loved the way they were models for the most part and canned to CG for running. :)

I want one too!
