Issue ive been having for a while. Rig is pretty new, game is on an SSD, when I'm playing nothing is near 30% usage and yet I get 45-50 fps that bounces. What else can I check? What am I missing? I see people on youtube videos with 60 fps and it never even flinches so i know its possible.

I am on an old POS laptop and I get 58-60fps usually, unless I have just shuttled into a new city and it is rendering.
My client set up is as follows:

Vertex/Pixel Shader Version - Optimal
Windowed Mode - enabled
Borderless Window - enabled

The rest of my client options are disabled.

My in game graphical options are set from medium to high range (the slide bar ones).
Bloom - disabled
Shadows - disabled
Fade Objects - disabled
Use Low Detail for Distant Characters - disabled
Simple Camera Collisions (Faster) - disabled

Pretty much all the rest of my graphical settings are enabled.

I hope this helps somewhat, mostly I would just chalk it down to being an old game that doesn't behave how it should and in some cases likes old hardware more than new hardware.

Just a FYI, windowed mode in any game is more strain on your gpu than full screen. It’s all about tweaking settings. I used to run this game on a pentium 4, GeForce 4 64MB vram, and 2GB RAM in 2003 and bounced between 30-60 FPS. I would also look for running swg on a potato. The tweaks mentioned in there are meant for improvements in performance on a crap machine. Read that and adjust from there.

Had to run it in windowed mode due to an alt tabbing issue that I have on my laptop. It would always boot me to the desktop.

Cynar, forgive my lack of clarity but the Mod the galaxy link was to update the Launcher which Awakening has already done, yes? As far as the memory leak I've tried that and it actually made my fps worse... I did upgrade from 8 to 16 gig RAM so Maybe I will try it again. Just odd that with the new rig and components that I'd need to adjust anything graphically. I understand the need to adjust some things with it being an old game and such.

As far as I'm aware yes, the launcher has the 60 FPS cap as an option to enable now. That doesn't mean you cannot take some of the tools on Mod the Galaxy and push that further. The SWG client is a very CPU intensive component as opposed to GPU. It was built really weird, but such is life. WoW is the same way. GPU's weren't that great back 15 years ago and CPU for everything was the line of thinking so gaming companies built there core development around that. Anyway, I'm off on a tangent again. There are things that you can tweak that won't be "supported" but you won't find them listed here. There was a tool floating out there call "swg overrider" I believe, that might do some of what you are wanting. There is no reason why any hardware made in the last 8 years cannot surpass 60 FPS+. It's all about making the client flex without causing it to become unstable. Get that line of thinking in your head, it's the client and the client settings holding you back. Gotta find that perfect combo, and every system is different. Best of luck!
