Lets say if I were to max out Enhanced Reflexes and do the two melee branches in Combat Prowess I would lose the option to have any branches in the "Crafting Mastery"..

Is this good or bad? How important is Crafting Mastery to make a decent lightsaber in the future?

You can spend as many points as you like in the FS boxes. Crafting mastery does make a difference in assembly and experimentation points available to crafting your sabre.

I don't plan on throwing in more then 24 points tho as the points will be stuck in FS boxes won't they?

How about Melee/Ranged Defence trees how important are they? as they are capped at 125 on clothes and higher if food.

Or Melee Speed/Accuracy? I'm just trying to figure the best build with master reflexes ^^ And not be completely useless later on if this part is screwed up

Though I know theres no such thing as a "Best Build" but I mean best for me ^^

I have the crafting mastery on a jedi. It does not increase your experiemental points. I was hoping to be a 14 point crafter this way. It does increase the chance to get an amazing experiemental bonus. If you want this for jedi, not worth it.

The defenses are definitely useful Yedi, aside from defender you don't get any of those stats from Jedi skill trees and even a master defender is far from capped.

Here's my recommendation.
Vital Core Branches: melee defense, ranged defense, melee speed, melee accuracy.
That's 4 trees, for the last 2 pick two from this list of 4 based on your preference: crafting assembly, crafting experimentation, survival (for the 5 terrain negotiation), vehicular control (more useful than it sounds, a lot of running and chasing happens in PVP).

Pre-launch I wanted to find a way to make all characters be able to obtain more skill boxes or have more skill points. The easiest method would have been to reduce skill cost per box. Aso, Ed, and I discussed it. We had already delayed launch for two months at the time.

We didn’t have a test group to help us test the balance of it all and didnt want to delay launching until a unknown period in 2015. We were battling too many other issues at the time. Had that been an option in place we could have reduced characters per account as players that had 300-500 skill points could have more flexibility to choose.

Anyway, just some random thoughts from 4 years ago.....could you imagine the OP of it all?!

Cynar,

Curious about what you and Ed's skill point ideas from 4 years ago. Would it be a split between crafting and combat professions? 300 to 500 skill points all in combat would be insane, I think it would have been less fun because I like the give and take of choosing what to take and what to sacrifice.

We never really narrowed it down a specific number. It would have allowed Jedi 3 full masteries and room to breathe on FS points. It also would have allowed for primary professions to have around 5 masters profs. Like I said we tossed it around but didn’t have the staff or volunteers prior to launch to allow for viable testing time.

There were only 3 private emu servers at the time, one was going out of business, one was hurting, and the other flat out sucked. It was prime time for us to jump in. Ed and Aso wanted to launch quicker than I did. I would have been satisfied delaying another 6 months. I wasn’t one to argue because I wasn’t doing any of the real work like the two of them were. All I did was help test, toss ideas around, server security stuff, etc.

300 skill points would definitely be viable and interesting. 50 skill points more, you could triple master. Jedi would be tougher. But so would everyone else. Anything more than that, would be too much. Sorta like it was before FS points were patched in. But everyone benefits a bit. I'd sacrifice characters for more skill points. This is all academic and not the future.

We all had different ideas about what we wanted. A lot of those ideas were also like-minded. Like any other group effort there was a lot drama and a lot of real life. We spent 6 months to prep for launch. More time would have produced better results for sure. Yes I think 300-350 would have been magical, but it’s 4 .5 year old history. Awakening is Awakning.
