After doing tests with a bh who has though many long hours/days/years with little luck on loot drops, has sucessfully made a Mandolorian helmet. We easily and quite quickly concluded that the 21 percent lightsaber resists offers no protections against lightsaber damage. In fact, wearing the helmet actually seen some of the recorded attacks slightly increase in damage. A training saber was used and the one handed light saber special attack head hit 1.

At 21 percent lightsaber resist, the protection is negated by the lightsaber's medium armor piecing bonus of 25 percent against light armor protection. I believe in the past, the resists on the mando armor were pumped up to 40 percent to account for the 25 percent damage bonus. Bringing that back, would be one fix. A second way is to change mandolorian armor to medium protection to negate the 25 percent damage bonus of a medium armor piecing lightsaber.

If you are interested in acquiring mando armor for the protections against jedi lightsaber damage, it's not worth the time and effort. It's only use is just for looks. It is a long arduous quest with no protective reward against the jedi scourge. Its easier to become a high ranked jedi knight than it is to get mando armor which is oddly sad. But then, maybe the mandolorians were the more rare warriors than exiled jedi in this time period.

I don't remember the SOE version of Mandolorian armor. It may have been the same then. I vaguely remember the jet pack was the only thing that was worth while to get. It was for looks too, not useful cause it was slow and easily damaged as it is here. Not sure about the server's vision for the elusive armor. If this is intended or not, PSG's are still your friend against the dreaded jedi who terrorize the galaxy with their lightsabers and lightning attacks on innocent civilians.

I would have messaged one of the staff if you think something isn't working as intended. Mando did have quite good lightsaber resists back when Jedi were first opened up on Awakening, however after 3.5 years of coding changes something may have happened that may have affected it, or maybe they decided to remove, or deactivate it's affect due to a bug. Hard to know without inquiring first. It is indeed difficult to acquire here, but if it wasn't then EVERYONE would be running around in Mando armor, in lieu of Comp.

I would still encourage people to try to obtain it. I just personally wouldn't make it a core focus of my time due to it's difficulty level. Awakening always needs additional developers to help out. If you know someone that has experience and free time they are willing to sacrifice, please consider a few hours to help make the server a more fun place to play!

I think what happened was the change from getting the armor from the dwb to a schematic. By using a schematic to craft the mando armor lets you pick you colors. The protections then reverted back to the old code.

It may have been better to send a private message, but I didn't think this was a bug or exploit. I am pretty happy with the fix to traps, so not complaining about the state of bounty hunters. Just warning anyone that are interested like I was for the increased protections, your going to be disappointed.

I and another bounty, with help with a few other players, were able to finally get one piece of the armor to test. We weren't the first, but there wasn't any infomation out there to rely on. I did speak in the past to a couple of bhs that did get mando. They thought it offered some protections but were not 100 percent sure. Now we know.

If the mando helmet has 21% resists it does work but that will be mitigated by AP2 from the saber.
So it would work roughly like this;

ipwncozimjedi hits you for 100 points of damage (+ap @25% per armour level difference = 125 points of damage)
take away 21% of LS resistance would be roughly ipwncozimjedi hits you for 98 or 99 points of damage.

I asked a few years back about BH armour having low resists added to it and another player brought the AP equation into it where we worked out that it wouldn't be worth wearing .
Hence i stuck to the bone armour that you all wear nowadays with the gamble on whether AP worked correctly or not and the chance of an arm hit instead of a torso hit

AP is a funny beast logically i always assumed it should work against all armour (which is why i never equipped a bone amour helmet i didn't want to take that risk!) but it seems to only work against something it has a resist for and not a vulnerability.

Mando was around 45% if sliced i think, I dont know whats changed recently but it does work but at 20% it would do anything vs the AP2 of a saber.
