I've put this together and would appreciate your feedback, ideas and criticism.

Star Wars Galaxies - Awakening

New to Awakening - A Starter Guide

Introduction
This guide has been written by the dedicated players on this server and is intended for veteran players from other sites and new players alike. Why? Because Awakening is a little bit different to both the original game and to the other emulators. We like to think this is the way SWG should have been.

The community is one of the many things making this server unique. If you ask for help in general chat, then more than likely someone will come to your aid. If you behave badly, someone will let you know.

Hard mode explained.
You will hear a lot of people saying that Awakening is a hard mode server. What this really means is that you have to work for your rewards. Having to work for your rewards, means that an achievement in Awakening means something and reflects significant effort and knowledge.

Rare loot drops are exactly that, rare. Dot (Damage over time) weapons are hard to come by. When you get something rare or unique its value to you is much higher than if it was easy to obtain.

Don't expect to be master rifles and taking down Krayt Dragons single headedly here. All of the high-end mobs are exactly that, high end. They will take skill and practice to defeat, if not the occasional assist from a friend.

To become a Jedi means you are a dedicated player, have learned about a lot of aspects of the game and travelled the galaxy. You have probably made new friends and some enemies. You've found the game enjoyable and frustrating, and you continue to play because you love it.

Becoming a Jedi is hard, becoming a knight is a test of skill and patience that a lot of people give up once they find out how hard it is. Jedi is not for everyone!

Where is Everyone?
Most players have moved to player-based cities in pursuit of improved buffs, improved crafting chances or improved mission payouts. The main cities have dedicated doctors and entertainers there to provide buff 24x7.

Where are the main player cities?
Planet : Corellia City : New Destiny
Planet : Tatooine City : Bedrock
Planet : Tatooine City : False Hope
Planet : Dantooine City : Walkabout Creek

Note: If you want your city on this list please ensure you have reliable 24x7 doctor and entertainer buffers who are fully taped.

Where do I start?
Most people start with a combat profession as the galaxy is tough to the initiated and starting with a crafting profession is really hard without credits. There are three things you need to aim for at the start. With a combat toon you need to look for the following:
Armour
Weapons of your chosen profession
Transport
Buffs

What transport should I get as this X-31 Land speeder is SLOW?
Most starter cities should have a supply of Swoops on the bazaar. Do a CTRL M and you will see the overhead map. Look for the Bazaar, head for it and have fun scrolling through the shopping options. These usually sell for between 10,000 credits and 20,000 credits. If you don't see any listed, try using the "Vendor Location" tab and set the Location Filter to "Entire Galaxy", then have fun looking through all the categories.

What armour do I look for, where do I find it and how much is that going to cost?
You are looking for composite armour with basic stats. These can generally be found in player cities, (See above) coming at a price of approximately 60,000 credits

Hint: Wearing armour without a buff is a bad idea. The armour will reduce your healing capacity without a buff.

Why are people only wearing four pieces of armour?
Only mini suits are needed. These include four key pieces of armour. The helm protects mind pool, pants or boots protect action pool, chest plus one arm location protects health pool. You need a total of 4 pieces of armour to be protected. Wearing additional armour pieces slows armour decay, but does not provide more protection, however it does increase your armour encumbrance, slowing your regeneration.

Weapons, what's good and what's not?
For starting out stick with the starter weapons you got until you train your first box (Sing out in general chat if you need help with training). Once you have them you will be able to buy some grind quality weapons. You are always looking for faster weapons to start with. Once you have mastered an elite profession then worry about getting top notch weapons.

Good starter weapons will cost anything between 500 and 10000 credits. Most player cities should have them, but don't forget to check on the bazaar at your starter city. Often kindly crafters will drop starter weapons off there cheap.

What is a buff?
A buff is an enhancement to your health, action, mind and other secondary stats. Being buffed means you can last longer against a creature or Non-Playing Character (NPC). Wearing armour reduces the damage a creature does to you, having a buff reduces the amount of time it takes to heal from damage.

Where do I get a buff?
Head for the main player cities. Look for the local cantina and you will find a doctor and entertainer there. Watch them and they will tell you how to get a buff and how much you should pay.

Hint: Most of them will either invite you or buff you if you send them a tell. "/tell Airy Buff please"
Hint: Tipping is done using the following command "/tip Airy 10000 bank"

Why should I tip doctors and entertainers?
Both doctors and entertainers give up the ability to run two toons at the same time. This means that it is much harder for them to do things in game and they need to be playing with other people to be able to take down the high-end targets.

In addition, doctors spend a lot of credits, time and effort making the buff packs that they use to buff you. Entertainers spend a lot of time and credits on the clothes and clothing attachments required to provide high end buffs.

Note: Most entertainers and doctors are ok if you tip low to start with. Once you are established however they will require you to tip appropriately.

That's a lot of credits, how to I make credits quickly?
Starting out you need about 80,000 credits, but you only start with 5000 credits. Best way to start is doing delivery missions for NPC's with a blue I above their heads, or delivery missions from a mission terminal. Doing this you can make about 10,000 credits fairly quickly. Rinse and repeat!

Everything attacks me when I shoot. Help!
You either attacked something that is aggressive (red dot on your overhead map and radar) or you shot the nest. Best thing here is to stand at your maximum range (64m for ranged weapons) and shoot one creature. Kill it, then rinse and repeat, until they are all gone. Then shoot the next once, the hit peace. Keep doing this until it spawns a new set of creatures. Then you are ready to repeat the procedure.

Hint: Still having trouble, sing out in general chat, someone will help.

How do I become a Jedi?
Best advice I can give you here is walk before you can run, enjoy the game and read the forums. It's all in the forums.

Enjoy the game and let me know if you need help!

I like it, Blazen. Pretty much sums up a good starting point.

You guys should totally take both of these, put them together, work with staff to keep it updated, and accurate. Expand on as needed.

Thanks Cynar. I didn't know that one existed. I'll combine the two over the next few days.

Relatively accurate knowledgebase, most (not all) items covered will be accurate for Awakening.
