I'm not quitting the game. I'm just not going to go out of my way to help a single person here any longer.

Personally I think a character limit of five is about right. A big thing as the community grows is how we develop and foster a true player driven economy and environment. At the moment, I know of certain crafters who have 15-20 character slots worth of harvesters that they're using and also have crafters of every single type available.

That's great for early stages, to ensure there are things available to buy on the server. But we're getting to the size where certain crafters have a huge advantage over everyone else. If we can restrict the sheer volume of resources they can harvest and the types of characters they have, at least it makes it a bit easier for new players to enter the crafting scene and make competition (largely to stop QIN overpricing every single item)

I get that it will have impacts on player cities, but the reality is we have so many player cities that are propped up by one to three people with their accounts, meaning they have 30-50 citizens immediately. Rather than banding together in a larger group.

This got out of hand quickly.

To me, there is a core issue that shrouds this discussion: are we talking about economy or server stability? I concede that one affects the other, but the issues are different between the two.

If it's a server issue, I stand by my earlier comments. Let's rip the Band-Aid off.

If it's an economy issue, then I don't see why all the emotion here. It's a market economy. Make quality items and offer them at a lower price than who I'll call "megacrafters" (of whom I like several on a personal level, so please don't read into that term usage as a slight).

Do a bit of advertising and you'll get noticed. Is it going to be a lot of work? I'll answer for you: yes. But it was the same amount of work for those folks in gathering experimentation tapes, resources, and the like. One could argue that as resources are much more available now than just a month ago, it's actually much easier to get into the crafting game. You'll have to be good and understand the game mechanics to make quality items.

But to assume it's impossible is crazy. I know of several people starting to take market share from "megacrafters".

I urge folks to vote and share their opinion, but let's please keep it above the belt and the conversation constructive.

Yeah, that's stupid. Thats why 3 would be a good number. I think even 5 is a bit too much. My whole point is just that we should give people a nice little reward based upon the characters' theyve lost skill boxes.
Such as a Elder tag and blue glow to their toons? Has everyone forgot how the player base in live reacted to things they had worked for being taken away when NGE came around? The worse thing to do is to take away peoples stuff. We would lose people that way. History would repeat itself.

I really like the notion Lennart proposed, of giving people the option to limit their account in exchange for some really spiffy rewards. Maybe some cool TCG loot items, or housing storage increases, or an alternate set of veteran rewards, even in-game titles.

Would it be possible to make several tiers of limitation available, with different reward sets? Like, limit yourself to 5 characters and get your choice of NGE/TCG vehicles, a 100-item housing storage increase, and one unique title (per toon or per account, whichever you like); limit yourself to 3 characters and get your choice of reward-spewing pet critters (Sarlacc trash can, Dianoga Dumpster, etc), a 200-item housing storage increase, and a different unique title; limit yourself to 1 character and get more housing storage increases, your choice of TCG houses, and a totally different title. The more you give up, the cooler the stuff you get.

Hell, with that set-up, I'd be willing to delete my architect and my scout and drop to 3. But those who absolutely MUST HAVE TEN CHARACTERS could keep their ten characters. They just wouldn't get the cool stuff.

I disagree. People quit because the game wasn't as good under NGE/CU. In fact, when NGE and CU came in they gave people MORE STUFF and SLOTS... etc etc. They changed the way the game played and THAT is why everyone left. You had 1 slot in Pre-CU (and unlocked a second slot when you got Jedi)... they couldn't go lower. NGE, everyone had 2 from the start (and those who had unlocked prior got 3)... so they increased slots.

I think that's the question... granted in Live you could buy multiple accounts and some people did. But it was very rare for someone to have more than 5 characters across accounts.

True that people were upset at the game change. But many of us were pissed about our 32 classes being taken away from us. Because people had work for those classes. In this way, this is no different. The point here is the player base of any game does not react well to things being taken away from them. This is something if done, and I am right, it will hurt more than our economy on this server.

Well the main reason for the 10 character limit was to allow the early players to develop an economy while still being able to play the game. We dont need that anymore due to the larger playerbase.

I dont have a horse in this race. But with all due respect, that isnt going to matter to the people who have put the hard work into their toons. This server was not advertised to them as a beta server.
Look at the votes. its is true that the 5 toons per account is winning. But the over 40 people have voted against it. That's over 40 unhappy people if this change was made.
One more thought to consider, as in most game, I will assumed only a fraction of the player base gets on the forums. That means this vote is in no way going to represent the masses which make up the player base of this server.
Not trying to the step on anyone's toes. Just trying to give my 2 cents.

Well, I honestly wouldn't mind if it stayed 10 or went to 5, either way works. Having 5 toons per account would just help in the long run.

Then we'll have no Ent buffs. GG.
Believe it or not, some people will still choose to play Entertainer/Musician/Dancer. Not everyone likes combat.

Its not just about player count.

I don't abuse harvesters and have chars using 0 lots. I don't have a city.

I have certain templates on the chars I would never have rolled if I knew we would have less later on. My tailor is my main crafter, he does not even have the ability to use a vender my merchant does that lol.
I'm not a speed grinder and planned on being here for the long run, I don't even have a full template combat char yet and I have been here since November.
Those who have been grinding away at Jedi and have a few chars seem to be better off here under this proposed change, but those who swop about and play different chars are likely to be hit harder.

Yes there are few people who use every slot and some that have a partner, room mate, friend or whatever who do the same and that includes logging in and out at the same time, yes I'm not blind. Server has the logs and devs (Inspector Cynar!) do monitor that. These are the ones taking space and filling the landscape with harvesters. I could do the same on mine but to be honest looking after 20-25 harvesters is more than enough to drive me insane.

As for fluff and titles, that wont put clothing on my venders when char is deleted and I have to remake different templates and regrind learnt professions due number change. Thanks for explaining about the change from 8-10 I did not realise till recently there was a change and was running with 8.

From my point of view rather than freebies/titles (which are always nice by the way) how about transferring profs you have from one char to another. You could delete a prof on one char and pass to another thus reducing number of chars and actually keeping what I want. If we only had 5 to start I would have planned my templates better than I did. And by this I don't mean profs learnt and dropped, I mean profs that I have now. Just an idea.

And as someone posted above 5 is in front, but more people would like more. It was planned for 8 at the start just turn it back to eight now and sort those with more than 8 on a one to one basis. If its lower you are not going to please everyone and there will be reaction, its human nature.

Your server, your rules and thanks for the hard work the team have put in so far. I will make my choices once the team has made theirs.

Thanks Nudd

I'm OPPOSED to ANY change in the character count!

10 Characters is perfect - it's not only about the number of characters but the "spaces" each provides. If I want to have a houses, factories, merchant tents/stores and still place harvesters 100 total spaces allows me to do that. If you decide to change things now you'd have to delete active characters and piss people off including myself. If anything current members should be grandfathered in for 10 characters.

I would also like to try different crafting profs as well as combat and limiting the character count would kill that for me.

In the end it will hurt the game population because other emu's allow 10 characters per account.

I was one of the most successful WS's on Bria server during live, and I did it all with 1 account 1 toon.

Sry, but I just dont buy that argument one little bit.

It's not about being successful - it's about have options to play the game. I don't want to be pigeon-holed into one or two profs - I want to have fun.

All of you people on here wanting to lower the character count bitched when the NGE "took away" your professions and yet you're all on board with taking away other people's game options.
