G'day folks,

Dirge and I have worked on converting the faction armor which is currently in-game (obtainable as pieces from the faction recruiters) to be fully craftable with its own segments (basic and advanced). Currently, on the test server, the armour crafting for each piece is identical to that of composite armour, the same resources, same amounts of each resource, etc. This allows it to basically be a reskin, in order to create more diversity in what players wear on Awakening while engaging in combat. The reason for this post however, is to ask you, the players for ideas on how to implement the armour to be obtainable by players on the live server. Keep in mind that these are the basic sets, in the future there are plans to add sets from later periods of the game such as the Rebel Battle armor and the Imperial Spec Ops armor, so the intention is to keep these methods of attainment less rare and hard. Before we get into talking about implementation methods, I'll break down what each set currently contains in terms of pieces:

Stormtrooper Armor
  • Stormtrooper Armor Helmet
  • Stormtrooper Armor Chest Plate
  • Stormtrooper Armor Leggings
  • Stormtrooper Armor Boots
  • Stormtrooper Armor Left Bicep
  • Stormtrooper Armor Right Bicep
  • Stormtrooper Armor Left Bracer
  • Stormtrooper Armor Right Bracer
  • Stormtrooper Armor Gloves
  • Stormtrooper Armor Segment
  • Advanced Stormtrooper Armor Segment
Rebel Marine Armor
  • Marine Armor Helmet
  • Marine Armor Chest Plate
  • Marine Armor Leggings
  • Marine Armor Boots
  • Marine Armor Left Bicep
  • Marine Armor Right Bicep
  • Rebel Marine Armor Segment
  • Advanced Rebel Marine Armor Segment
Now that you know what pieces and segments each armour set contains at this point in time, we can talk about some ideas of how to implement it in-game.
  1. Just leave the pieces and segments as purchasable limited use schematics on the faction recruiters
  2. Just leave the pieces and segments as one time purchase, unlimited use schematics on the faction recruiters.
  3. Make the armor and segment schematics drop from factional NPCs (killing rebel factional NPCs gets you Stormtrooper schematic pieces and segment schematics, and vice versa). Whilst still having the pre-made pieces purchasable from the faction recruiters with the terrible stats.
  4. Implement some form of quest line for Rebels and Imperials that gives out unlimited use schematics for the pieces and segments as you progress.
  5. Implement some form of quest line for Rebels and Imperials that gives out very limited use (maybe an allowance for ten full sets of armor) schematics for the pieces and segments as you progress.
  6. Implement a mixed system where the pieces come from a quest, the basic segment is from the faction recruiter and the advanced segment is a mid-tier loot drop...
These are just some basic starter ones, give us your suggestions to potentially help form the implementation of this armour and other CU/NGE armors in the future. The more involved your suggestion, the more time it will take to implement, please keep that in mind.
Note: Writing a quest line will require significantly more effort and time to do, I will first need to teach myself how to write them and then develop a story to accompany it. If you suggest a quest line, please devise a storyline to accompany it.

* Please note, that just because you suggest something it does not mean we will implement it to your exact specifications. We are using this post to help us understand how our player base likes things implemented. While your idea may not be used in the final implementation, all contributions are appreciated.

You said this is stage 1 Crafted Faction Armor, relatively easy to get, cooler stuff to follow later, so...

No Trade Schematic Purchased from Faction NPC, unlimited use, but faction costs high enough to force the Armorsmith to promote to mid-level officer rank, the AS would be able to make 1 type, Rebel or Imp as aligned. Perhaps some minor components require faction purchase to enforce continuous alignment and rank of Armorsmith.

Cool Advanced Segments drop as loot from SF Base level Faction Mobs, to encourage potential for PvP

From a crafter pov, I think the simplest one, number 2 -Just leave the pieces and segments as one time purchase, unlimited use schematics on the faction recruiters- is the most usefull.
It will be nice that the advanced segment to make use of GEO components (power cubes) , or the armor to use other not very much used loots (akley hides for example). :D
Just my thoughts. Thanks, Mike.
