Ive been lingering around now for a couple weeks, logged on a few times actually saw 1 person that wasn't a bot, talked to maybe 3 people total in gen chat.

Trade forums are pretty inactive, which in my experiences is a pretty good way to judge server activity.

Is this pretty much the state of the server or is it just a down time with the start of summer?

Any actual plans on getting this server back to its glory days?

or

Is this server just keeping the lights on for the faithful that have stuck it out?

I enjoyed some of the aspects of this server back in the day, I put a lot of time in back then, howerver I'm hesistant on coming back to a server hosting less than 10 active players. A lot of competition around now but at one point imo, this was the best of them.

Not speaking for the staff, but from experience May - Sept was always a horrible time for the emu, on almost every server. Even swgemu dropped off back in the day. It's a passing novelty at this point.

First off, I'll start by saying player interaction is mainly in Discord and the friend groups people form through guilds, cities and factionality. We have a relatively small but tight-knit community that is very welcoming to new players and helps them where they can. We have about 60-80 active accounts in any given week. The forums see pretty much no use, and only really serve as an archive of sorts for all the information in them now.

Now, to answer your question in a round about sort of way. We would absolutely love to bring the server back to its former glory, that relies in part on us having an invigorated staff team that is available to put in lots of hours of their free time to work on this ~8 year old project for free (all staff positions are filled by community players that want to step up and would fit into the team). The issue with most of us in roles at the moment is that we all work full-time jobs, quite a few of us with more than 38 hours a week. Most of us also have families which take up quite a bit of time. We currently only have one person in a development role, with one of our founders, Incognito in a semi-retired state as well, he does development work occassionally. I sometimes do a bit of bug fixing here and there, though my role with the server is officially administration work and community support (tickets, etc).

We also have an extemely diversified arena of server offerings in the SWG scene (approaching 25 server across Pre-CU, CU and NGE last I counted) compared to when we launched, not to mention an ageing player base (and ageing game), so ultimately we are becoming more niche as time goes on. There's lots of factors against us, including our server's advanced age, but we do what we can, when we can to work on it. Just recently we have recruited a new event coordinator intern as well, so hopefully that will up the engagement activities available for players beyond the Pre-CU content soon. We are always desperately on the lookout for development staff to help out, that has always been our major roadblock to getting stuff done. Finding skilled people willing to work (for free) towards a vision that ultimately may not match exactly with their own is very hard as we have constantly experienced over the years.
