I'm wondering, any of you lot that have any twitch on the old force sensitivity scale, can you recall what helped you move a rank up at all? Did a novice box help, was it a POI, did you earn a shed load of air miles visiting Harriet in Theed?
What are you at now, and how far have you explored the game?
Just wondering how folk are doing

That may be a question with no good answer... judging by some of the stuff I've seen in the archives for when things changed level back in the good old pre-CU days... sometimes the "status change" wouldn't be checked and reset until the next login session... so you could have done whatever you needed to change from one level to the next, but you wouldn't notice till the next time you logged back into game... at least in live the old force check command could be used anytime/place you felt like it... in Awakening, unless you are at a Force Shrine so would think it would be pretty hard to isolate what tipped the scales unless you were flying out to the nearest Force Shrine after every significant accomplishment for your character... if they included the "only update status on new login" code that could get pretty complicated to try to reliably keep track...
Oh, I get your point and wholeheartedly agree that some things may be very hard to put a finger on it.
However, I'm thinking of 'well I did Jabba's last week and that was the last main thing I did before rechecking at a shrine, so maybe...' or 'I started BH since last time I checked'.
Other than 'the last big thing I did' it would be hard. More o POIs I suppose. Hopefully some foloks have a 'big event' that they can presume helped

There are two main threads where alot of the theory crafting and post regarding your question are made. One is about 18 pages, the other is 8 pages here on the forums. It's a good read, I recently joined server and made a point to reading it all. I would suggest taking most of it with a grain of salt and just remember on Awakening they crafted their own hybrid version of unlocking Jedi. It seems to take flavors from the Force Rank System, Hologrind, and Village. In what respect is fairly unknown. Developers have said multiple times with little change to their riddles that you really should want to think "outside the box" which is essentially the old way of unlocking which was just getting X amount of POI badges, some certain theme parks and corvets, and X particular professions. Do note, that these methods DO progress your character along to degrees but there have been people who unlocked all professions and done all poi's / theme parks and i think a great deal of random quests.
To give you a example, I am current stage 2 of force sensative. Before I got stage one the things I was was Master Swordmen / do jabbas theme park / Master Pikemam. I cannot remember which POI's exactly, but the ones near Bestine and Jabbas, I also went with my guild NRO and went through DwB to kill overlord (we got within one npc of him and then server died! thus we were reset to outside bunker). I do not remember exactly getting stage 1 at that point, but next day when i checked I was. Stage two seemed to be me just dong Amadela lake retreat missions (3 missions), mastering brawler, and some more POI's on Naboo and Dantoonie. It seems to be VERY much different for everyone, some seem to benifit more from profession unlocking, while others do well in POI's or quest... maybe a blend of both. Why I enjoy this server, everyone seems to a certain extenet tied to a similar system but it branches out in certain aspects for each player depending how their character "Rolled" on creation.
EDIT - I do feel there is a time delay though, stage 1 at least felt like one because i did everything listed and no progression, next day i did DWB and server reset afterward and at some point beyond here i checked my status and i was stage 1... I am not confident DWB did the progesion for me alone, it may have helped but i think improve to stages is a build up of things. stage 2 i am not sure if such delay occurred. I try not to make it feel too "grindy" or "method gaming" by checking a shrine every time I discover a new POI or buy a shuttle ticket to a player city lol. The true enjoyment of this "hardcore" Jedi Unlock system here is to just go along with it, making the journey the true enjoyment rather the destination. With that said, this system is not a system that improves your progression by thinking so outside the box where you start addressing it like a roleplay situation to any moderate level. For example, first thing I did after Swordmen was go to every shrine and mediate (the radial options with the movie quotes) for anywhere between 15-30 minutes each, every shrine... on every planet (yes this did take me a total of like 3 - 4 days of gameplay while I was online lol). I did this to test such a theory that the system almost make you beg the question "In the SW lore, how does one become force sensative?" just about all novel, t.v show, game, and movies describe places strong in the force playing this role. It did not work, there was no badge for something like this and thus I do not think it possible for game to track said attempt to "go outside the box", while i think to a degree this is the objective... This new box still has walls, we just don't totally understand it yet.
This crosses into the theory many have thrown out (and i like this outlook) that there are hidden badges created, where a certain character might have to go to "X" place marked by the Devs and your character might have rolled for it in it's creation and applies to you... while your friend wont have anything happen to him. I think it is plausible for many reasons but i have yet to experience such a thing to prove it correct. Another theory I like (and probably my favorite one which I am following) is unlocking is a faction requirement, devs have even gone on to say you need to be Imp or Rebel to be jedi, you MUST pick a side.. Game feature demand such due to force pvp SF flag once you become a Jedi Knight. The fellow who came up with the theory that expanded from this known concept (whose name i cannot remember atm) said if you were to unlock, maybe it has a sorta demand to be light or dark in a sense of faction points. If you are wanting to unlock Jedi, then you should have negative faction point standing with aggressive factions such as Imperials or tuskens while friendly factions such as jawas and rebels should approve of you highly (i am not sure where groups like CorSec or criminal groups like jabba or hutt should fall under... maybe unaligned considering their nature). Anyhow, if going for dark Jedi unlock, you should be Imperial and loved by them and essentially hated by EVERYONE else haha, i was amused at that part of the theory. So yea, this is a idea i like to play around wih and have made a point not to go around killing jawas. XD
I'm currently stage 6/7 and the things that have ticked me forward have been getting all the pois...when I completed the warren I ticked and when I mastered combat medic I went to 6/7

Keep in mind while reading those threads mentioned that the Force Shrine checking was intially reading higher than expected for some, and was later "fixed"... when it first came out, a couple of my crafters who did little more than dig in the dirt (but had a couple of low level Masters under their belts) were coming out higher than my Main who had a couple low Masters, one or more advanced Masters, hit about 30 POI badges, and finished Jabba's... I recently rechecked several of my characters at the Force Shrines and now the Main is at level 3, while the others have fallen back to level 1.
BTW: devs: The Force Shrine Fortune Cookies are a nice touch... some of them were pretty entertaining... but then I'm pretty easily amused...
Last night, after getting some POIs on Nab and Tat - and after killing some Tusken kings and the like at a lovely randomly found mission in the desert I checked at a shrine and found I had a slight tingle!
Awesome
