Ok BE is one class I've always wanted to try but never got around to in original game. I remember you could kill the big nasty mobs just by sticking a needle in there butt when they wasn't looking but that's about all I remember and my Tailor would have killed for tissues back then. My question is (since I have zero feel for how it plays) What skill sets or profession do you BE's find are a must with Master BE? Ranger? A Melee build like TK? Is there one or two skill from a certain class worth investing skill points in? What?

Hello there.
Because of the Nature of the BE tree it can go with anything really. That said though I think BE/Ranger is the best mix so you can sneak up on more aggressive mobs and get more DNA.
But before smashing gown BE I would recommend doing a combat class like TK and mastering that and Ranger together, then doing BE after. Just because you have to kill stuff to harvest for Scouring XP (; I unfortunately did TKM and Master BE so struggling to get ranger done now...
That said, some people might suggest a different build...

I have a BE/doc..if the character reduction goes in, I'll merge my smuggler and my BE..otherwise i would suggest just a melee or ranged prof with it because ranger/BE ..you can't kill anything if you need to..my Doc/BE is just for crafting only..the ranger in the temp would prob go mostly unused.

It all depends on if you are wanting to make pets. One thing to note, this last patch broke BE pet making. It isn't bugged, it simply got smashed. This is sad because it was working well before. First problem is mask scent. Before it would do a check, if you past you were ok to sample. Now it checks every 5 seconds and you will fail one those checks before getting close to any red mob of any CL. Ranger is useful for harvesting only. Second they changed the CL formula for BE made pets. It is very gimped now and many old BE pets are broken. Why they choose to break BE is beyond me, but there it is.
So what does work at this point is tailor and chef tissues. So anything goes with BE since you probably won't be making pets (the best part of BE). Should they ever revert the changes to mask scent and BE pets, ranger 0030 is nice for seeing special attacks and fencer 0040 gives the biggest bang for the buck in both defense and offense for the skill points spent. That is basically a full template for a pet making BE, should they be put back into the game. At this point the best combo is a tissue and buff bot char, so Doc/BE. Not character you can really play with though, just use for 5 minutes at a time, then log it off.

Very useful info and a very interesting Template. I was thinking most of my Ranger skills would go to waste (and with no attack skills whatsoever). I made my Master BE mixed with Master CH and Novice rifles. I like that I can do some dps with pets with rifles novice, and then offer taming for free for creatures I create and Mount taming. My pets are mostly to keep me alive during the DNA sampling if I get agro.
As far as ranger goes with BE, would be very hard to kill creatures to harvest, without any combat abilities. Ranger is best with an elite combat skill, so that you're more efficient in harvesting creatures.
