Hi all,

A query for the devs really.

With jedi unlocked in some form now, how exactly does vis work here? I have had it on live, and luckilly only one BH came after me.

I recall that, when wearing a jedi robe or having a sabre equipped or using force powers that:

being within a certain range of players gave vis counts - 250m Range I think,
Same as NPCs,
All NPCs gave vis from ewoks and Dantari to force users.

Am I correct in thinking that if an NPC is killed, he does still give vis, or does killing him stop that count?

I also understand that there is a count tick all the time - background ticks.

There was also a thing where if you remained hidden then the vis count would degrade.

Thankfully permadeath is not an issue anymore, but am I right in thinking there is significant xp loss at death by a BH? How much xp loss would this be, and is it linked to your own progression, a set amount or a percentage of xp collected? There was even a possibility of negative xp in he old SOE version too.

I look forward to these answers, as I'm sure many others would be too.

Cheers! :)

i thought death period not just cause of a BH caused xp loss, and on live ( now remember this was a longtime ago memory is shotty) wasn't it around 50k xp first death then 100-150-200 etc, might be more but that sounded kinda right and
There was definitely negative xp on live, my knight was -capped haha just don't care anymore when your full temp, I wanna say the range was 32m but again along time ago it was closer than 250 I thought

You can wear your robe and lightsaber in public. Go ahead. Everyone is doing it.

So far in the last three days we have had 4 Jedi on the boards. It's easy to be careless, it's also easy to think you are invincible with a glowbat. It will happen more and more often.

Keep you and your abilities hidden at all times from both players and npcs. The Empire is looking for you!

In the old live game 32m was the benchmark distance after a DEV said once on a forum (i can't find that link).
I do not know if it has been changed here or modified for emu or awakening. All i know is rumors, so sticking to the legacy information might be safer.
A bad or an avoidable death cloning early on will hurt more than a BH attack ever will, because you can avoid gaining visibility.

For the New Jedi, its worth looking at this thread as a Guideline its pretty solid information.

Guide and Tips to help new (and old) Jedi stay alive and succeed

Additionally if one is to unlock, prior to making it official it would be advisable to have a combat template stacked with defenses from other profs, especially melee ones and hold on to those as you drop your main combat profession for lightsaber.

This isn't easy and it will take a long time, for some the length of time and effort it takes to grind out the earlier boxes is really the true test.
Prepare...get the resources, get some flawless/premium pearls and get your foods (brandy, pie, snowcake, steak, thak/kddrink) and a small house in your bag you can drop as you grind.

Unlike live or possible other emu servers I don't want to divulge what does and doesn't cause visibility. We aren't doing crazy things to make people visible, but some common sense needs to be used. I wouldn't be showing people or npcs your light saber/robes.

No csr or admin will not make you visible. Let's eliminate that right there for you paranoid people.

Be smart, enjoy your grind!

Hopefully if you kill and ewok or a dantari you won't get vis. Common sense would dictate that a dead one of these would be even less likely to tell the empire that a living one. Ewoks eat stormies for goodness sake! :)
