Ed touched on this in a different topic. What are people's thoughts about having a system message when a BH mission against a Jedi is successful? It doesn't need to contain any names. I'm thinking something along the lines of "Good news citizens, the glorious forces of the empire have detected and disposed of another illegal force using enemy of the empire. We are one step closer to peace."

(You get the idea)

Without the names of the mark and the hunter, I'm not sure I understand the reason other than advertising an unbuffed jedi running around. With what Ed described, I imagined to have both names so that folks would be alerted if shady dealings were underway.

Exactly.

I'm all for posting names. After all, once a Jedi makes it to the boards it's a safe assumption he is "known".

I don't like scoreboards in most games and this is no exception.

Put it in your bio if you have to.

Easy there Mr. Negative ;)

Not a scoreboard but something similar to the unlock message from Lord Vader alerting the populace that the threat posed by the despicable Jedi Maldred has been neutralized and everyone is safe. Doesn't even have to mention the hunter responsible.

Just look at the most recent rage over a BH attempt. I just don't see this going down well is all.

That's a bit of overkill. If people will use the system the way it was designed to be used eveything will be ok. Those that choose to take shortcuts not only do so at great personal risk, but raise the chances the entire class will be adjusted to make shortcuts or workarounds a very painful experience.

You notice we adjust xp gains to make the class more difficult. Could you imagine losing a couple of boxes per death because you gave us no other choice? Or worse yet now take the chance of getting caught red handed and having to start from box numero uno?

I am with jasonh. I dont see how this will benefit the original problem that was raised. Unless you are a BH, a system message of a dead Jedi won't tip anyone's hand. Even if you are a BH, unless you are watching the boards the instant a jedi is killed or have his mission, the system message accomplishes nothing.

Now if the message is displayed for some other reason, fine. But it was originally mentioned as a way to bring awareness to jedi clearing their own mission. I dont see how this accomplishes that. Unless someone is FCing, therefor displaying a dead jedi message every 30 seconds or so for the same toon, it's frivolous.

I think we are off topic on this particular post.

The OP was expanding on what Ed mentioned in the other thread. My thoughts in this thread were since we have an announcement when a Jedi is born, why not have one when they are killed.

Think of it as a subtle reminder that a Jedi's job in this timeline is to stay hidden or face consequences.

What about the news bulletin at the star ports? Create a message/story for people to read. Maybe the names could be used in that one or maybe not? Could also put down what weapons a BH used.

Because we would rather concentrate on fixing broken things and adding new features for bh and Jedi that make sense and gameplay fun. Not another spam message to be run across a screen. I can appreciate the suggestion, but I can tell you we won't spend any time on a feature like this. Not to mention other classes and features are deserving of some attention.

I was thinking of the fun side of this, rather than any cheat prevention etc... When it comes to coding I have no idea what this would take ??? and fully understand that there are other priorities (or other professions that need some love first). Close this thread if you want :)

I might...

I want people to know when a Jedi dies. It's like Angels getting wings at Christmas...

Instead of a system message then, how about the news stands in the starport? I am not a coder so I don't know what that would take.
