Please consider making all armor types use the same cores or whatever so they can all have comparable stats, so that there are viable alternatives to composite armor.
I know that's not how pre-cu worked, but I think it's an opportunity to correct a design flaw. As is, what's the point in having any other kind of armor in the game?
I'd like an appearance tab even better, since aesthetics are one of my prime concerns. Could even work in conjunction with normalizing armor, to assuage the objection about not being able to tell what people are really wearing for PVP (as if there were any question that they were wearing composite!).
Thanks.

I my eyes it would not seem like a bad thing, and also... not being able to see what the opponent wear or is a jedi or not in PvP just make it so much more fun when getting hammered by a group of Tusken Raiders or something =)

I want to be able to wear bone armor because of the way it looks, but it is completely useless.

Just something I want to point out as I have no opinion on this subject either way. It's a lot easier to craft Bone armor then it is Adv comp armor. That's why there is such a huge difference in protection. Padded super steel vs padded animal bone?? Padded steel vs padded insect shell?? There are other armors out there as well that are higher end. No one is crafting them or no one has looted the schems for them yet.

Can we make it like other MMO's and just have it to where the less it covers the body the more armor protection it gives? Its great to walk in hawt pants and be like, "Can't touch this."

I'm not sure how feasible something like this to even be debating. What your talking about would probably involve a complete redesign of the Armorsmith profession. There are alot of factors that go into armorcrafts.
@ Cynar - We have heard that several times, I'm assuming you're talking about armor types beyond RIS and Mando?

Your first statement is correct. We aren't looking to re-invent the game, we are looking to bring it back with some minor customizations and some tweaks. Now we could make it where it was harder to get the components for higher end armor. Then everyone would be forced to run around in whatever they could find.Kelec wrote:I'm not sure how feasible something like this to even be debating. RIS, BH Armor, Mando. It's all out there. Just gotta loot it, or loot the schematics for it. Hint: It won't drop off of Meatlumps. And before people ask for clarification between BH and Mando I won't give any

If any tweaks were to be done to the way Armorsmiths craft armor I think it should focus on Padded Armor. At the moment Padded Armor is so crappy but many people find its color palette the best. Padded Armor as it is now use nearly as many named resources as Composite Armor but the stats aren't even comparable. The HAM cost of Padded Armor is also very similar to Composite as well as the amount of resources used. The easiest way I could see to fix the problem with Padded Armor is to change the default special protection from "Blast" to either "Kinetic" or "Energy". This change would make me start crafting Padded Armor.
Another change that could be done but probably a lot harder is to open up a 3rd layer slot in the Advanced Padded Segment because the current 2x layer slots if used for capped kinetic layers will only yield around 60% kinetic resist (same % if using energy layers). While I can probably reach 80% Blast currently with blast layered Padded Armor that resist just isn't popular enough and would leave kinetic and energy resists around 20%.

So from a crafting perspective you could leave for the 'nub' armors to have optional crafting slots that would require mastery, but still being able to craft the absolutely lower end for grinding up armorsmith as like in many other crafting schematics where you can chose to leave something out for an instance advanced powerhandlers where you can leave out the enhanced slot and out from that to create diversity in looks seem like another posibility, though it seem for much to ask or suggest for I do not see any problems with fixing the technical pre-cu problems by actually doing something about it in other ways... and yes pre-cu still sort of am like beta with all the flaws going around and half fixed problems when it was live back then.

How about something like powerups for armor to boost certain stats and make the cheaper and rarely used armors more viable for specialty grinding and pve. Comp would not be allowed to use PUs and would remain the premium used for most pvp.

Really hope to see some custom alterations in this area, whether it's buffing different sets to be able to compare to Composite or adding the appearance tab so people can make their character look how they like. After all as OP said we're all gonna be wearing Composite anyway, so it's not really "hiding" anything like in most MMOs where there are many different armors someone might wear.
It's not a huge deal but it is kindof a bummer not being able to use most of the armor that's in game without gimping yourself pretty bad, seems like a waste ya know?
Anyway, I hope some day soon our armor selection will open up so we can see some diversity in our appearances, also it may even add a bit of unpredictability in PvP, since each enemy you encounter would potentially have different combinations of damage resistance.

I would also love to see more viable armour alternatives as well. Perhaps at master armoursmith, an armoursmith could chose to make Bone or padded armour (instead of comp) but it would have to have the exact same material and crafting requirement, only in terms of its end result look would it come our differently....perhaps if one wanted to make Composite quality bone armour, it would in fact be made out of composite only with a bone armour design? Colouring it white, makes it look like standard bone armour, but you could also have it in what ever hues you like? (Again adding more customisation?)
You could then also pick and chose what types you want to wear for your legs, arms, helm....etc....be pretty cool I think?
In other words, rather than composite being an actual armour type.....it would instead be an armour material type....if that makes sense?
