IMO what would fix PvP

This is a custom server with certain custom characteristics right?
Then why not custom class balancing?
Awakening could be the first private server to embody what the CU could have been!
Take pikeman out of the garbage can, nerf rifleman(I am a rifleman and I admit we are ridiculously OP, would love to go carbines but not gonna give up free double damage without disadvantages), tweak the speed cap(pistoleer and tk recieve barely no advantage from getting speed making the class have crappy scaling whereas rifleman receives ridiculous benefit and is practically capped just from reaching master), cut in half the flamethrower delays (10 seconds in between flame singles is beyond stupid), etc. YOU CAN DO ITTTT DEVS!

I have a ridiculous amount of ideas for balancing but just giving examples for now unless this got taken seriously. <3 this game and would love to see it be fun for everyone where we can all play the class we enjoy the most and have it be viable.

limited amount of devs that are coding the game to make it better
if you know any coding friends who love this game get em on board

I give post cu a few credits, and one was the instant PVP from not having to get buffed was awesome....made firefights break out like crazy

Bring in the player bounty system. Tie it to death blows. When you are DB'd by a player, up pops the option to place a bounty on them. You obviously want to PVP since you WERE PVP'ing to place the bounty in the first place. It doesn't make crafters target able. It doesn't make docs healing in a group have to pvp. It's not forcing anyone to PVP since it's only able to engage upon DB. Gives the Bounty Hunters something to do instead of whining there aren't any jebi to hunt. (I'm guilty of this). I know people who would go out looking for PVP jest for the chance of putting a bounty on a hated player of the opposite faction. Don't want to have to worry about a BH coming after you later? Don't PVP.

Jedi and PVP have to be interconnected.
Even making PvP a necessary part of unlocking, not just a random one.

As it stands now the Jedi grind is hard mode, but a pretty carebear PVE endeavor, and the whole server is focused on it just like the hologrind of old. The main difference being we don't have holos to grind. People aren't playing the professions they like, so much as grinding on a toon to get Jedi. And with the rumors of the village coming people have really dropped their guns and swords to grind the glowbat. I really don't understand how it's connected through skill boxes, POE, Pve kills, and not deeply connected to player kills. It's just as much a part of the game as anything else.

He basically says that making it skill boxed based was a one off quick decision that he regretted. I don't want to delve too deeply into Jedi unlock politics, because I think this server has it mostly right, but it's still a flawed model. This should be the empire divided, not the grind for bragging rights.

I'd like to see Jedi Training and leveling tied to faction bases. So that if there are no bases free, or if the base is under attack, Jedi can't level and progress - forcing them to pick a side and forcing people to protect and attack their bases. I'm not sure how Jedi train because I don't have one and didn't have one in live, but having their only trainer be inside a base would be a great step.

Jedi are faction heavy artillery and should be treated as such with the investment of an alpha class. Instead, as it stands, it's almost a separate game and the only connection is with BH hunts and Pve farming.

Why have an alpha class if you're not killing other characters with it? Yes, it makes PVE easier, but it's not needed.

Then i spent about a week and a half solid PVPing. Like I've stated before we won't tell folks what did it for their character but I can tell you, what Pak says seems to make sense. Oh and for those who think they can fight club... we have ways to check for it.

Some of us can't do the server events as they are too early in the day such as 5 EST etc..

If we need to PvP to unlock as part of the random roll, then i haven't heard of this

I for one wasn't intending on PvPing UNTIL AFTER i unlocked.

I prefer to PvP as a Jedi perm overt, not as a typical MSwords/MTKA etc...

And here i've been wasting all my time doing random NPC quests and killing Kimos etc... in the hopes of getting to 7/7

Guess i'll try the PvP stuff if that'll help. The events are waaay too early in the day though for some of us that have a family on the east coast. How about events around 10 PM EST? I know there's plenty of people on at that time

It is in your interest to PvP, travelling Overt and learning how various professions behave prior to unlocking no matter if it plays into your own unlock.

I think i know how the PvP works

Thanks though :)

I just didn't want to waste time with it while trying to grind out the unlock

Creston thanks for posting that picture I had kind of forgotten what the skill boxes were like back then. I had the grind in both versions as I wasn't quite finished so it didn't translate to full template once they switched. I honestly prefered the jedi profession broken apart.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm going to bump it. And I'm going to drop some knowledge.

First of all, the actual PvP on this server is in a really bad state. It's completely centered around Jedi and Bounty Hunters, and if you play anything else(other than maybe a CM or the occasional Rifleman with a 600+ damage Jawa)... good luck.

In an effort to make Jedi vs. Bounty Hunter more fun and engaging, it looks like both classes were buffed. Here is how I see them(I could be wrong about some of these):

Jedi
- Extra 24 skill points(which also gives jedi more force)
- Extra toughness/mitigation on robes
- Skill costs being broken in favor of the Jedi(such as Total Heal/Avoid Incap)
- Extra accuracy, which made them easily able to dispatch melee stackers
- ForceRun2 damage reduction reduced to 30%ish down from 95% damage reduction(not sure about FR3, haven't tested it)

Bounty Hunter
- Fast Blast/Spray Shot with a LLC
- Traps vs. Jedi
- Secret Lightsaber resists at Master Bounty Hunter
- Did I mention Fast Blast? It's insane

All these changes might be good for Jedi vs. BH, but they've destroyed PvP with consideration to all other combat toons. Jedi are all but invincible to anyone but a BH. Hell, they're even invincible against other Jedi. Granted, CMs can do some damage, and other classes can do things like spam Intimidate 1 & 2. But ultimately, PvP on this server is nothing but Jedi Warzzzzz.

Then add in factors like how neutered stackers are against Jedi, and the fact that almost NO ONE on the entire server has any DOT weapons worth mentioning, because loot is set to hardcore mode or whatever. So the stackers that used to help police the Jedi, and used to run Pikeman in their build just to DOT up Jedi, don't even exist on this server.

I'm not asking that the typical MMO knee jerk reaction nerfhammer be dropped on Jedi and BHs so that no one will ever want to play them again. But it would be nice if Jedi were about as strong as they were on live. And that we could move on from this server being almost nothing but Jedi vs. BH, and start an actual GCW.
