Other Bounties Suggestion

To stop abuse of non pvp classes (Ents, Crafts) maybe only allow bounties on toons with combat professions. Not sure if you can even do this but it might be a way around griefing non combantives. Also cities could class themselves as non combat zones and ban toons who hunt in there cities. Would give a player a reason to join a city other than want to use the research center.

The issue for me with PvP bounties always comes back to : how do you stop someone from cashing in their own bounty with an alt?

You mean what Jedi do right now as we speak to keep themselves off the terminals?

Personally I feel that multiple people should be able to get your bounty, and the first person to get the kill gets the credits and everyone else automatically fails the mission. This way you can't hide behind an alt because literally the entire server can be hunting for you. Vader and Jabba didn't say "Hey, Boba, find the dude." They put the word out to every hunter in the galaxy and the reward went to whomever got the kill.

Simple concept in theory, but I know nothing of coding so I am not going to say whether it's a feasible fix or not.

Now if you want a REAL fun time, figure out a way to implement live boutnies, where you have to capture the target alive and drag them back to the bounty-issuer for an astronomical sum. The catch is, other hunters will now be hunting YOU in order to take the credits for themselves by killing you and delivering the prisoner. Of course that could lead to what befell Archeage with people simply camping turn-in NPCs unless they were randomly generated without a giveaway title.

I think Stepo's idea is well thought out and adds a bit of immersion as he said.

I'm just not sure why people keep saying it can be abused against non pvp toons.

The system is designed around a bounty proccing from pvp actions. I don't see non combat toons throwing themselves into pvp. From what I understand of it, if you don't want to be apart of the system don't pvp.


I personally would love to see a dog pile.

Ummm... multiple BH's can have a Jedi bounty at once, on Awakening.

Also, players cannot kill their ALT for bounty. We have multiple methods in place to stop this... IF someone is going around this, they are exploiting game mechanics and it is considered cheating.

Fact is, Jedi on Awakening aren't flashing sabers everywhere all the time. They should know better... and if Vader sees an increase in public activity, I am sure he will institute additional deterrents.

From my understanding you can have up to 5 BH's on your mission from the terms.

If you allowed endless bounty hunters to take the same missions instead of having it capped, you could end up with 20 or 30 BH's versus a Jedi who cannot get all of their friends in on the action. So unless you use a TEF system which allows huge free-for-alls to happen (Which I personally love, but the devs here have decided against) - you then need to do a balancing act. In this case - achieved by having a limit on number of missions per Jedi.

When I say 'alts taking bounties' - I of course include friends/clanmates/kind strangers in that situation. I wasn't just speaking about someone getting around the current account per person policy.

In ANY system of player bounties, including ONLY allowing opposing faction chars to take the bounty - It seems that it would be easy to circumvent by having friends/alts do the killing or take the missions and hold them indefinately to deny the opportunity to anyone else.

Someone more imaginative than me might be able to contribute more but: the only way I see player bounties being something that wouldn't automatically be circumvented by most organised clans is by having a penalty for the victim applied upon completion of the bounty. It would need to be significant enough that friends/allies/alts of the intended victim wouldn't cash in the bounty as they would be actively hurting themselves or their friend.

At this point - someone in charge needs to decide whether their vision of PVP on this server is to have a side to it that is this hardcore.

Even if the answer was YES - I would say that there needs to be a benefit to weigh out the risk of being hunted by BH's. Either this would be that only higher-ranked faction players could be hunted or a special benefit 'mode' could be willingly entered into whereby someone grants the server the OPTION of putting missions on them, in return for a boon of faction-xp-earned, for instance.

Nomatter what - imho It's pointless to go through the effort of implementing a player bounty system if it is circumvented as quickly as 'friends take/complete bounty' or even worse if the system effectively meant someone collected cash for a suicide.

Again - with permadeath being removed, I'd be fine with it. Because of the changes to the TEF - my assumption in that post is that the Devs here are not.

If more than 3 bounty hunters can't kill a jedi they either need to rethink their strategy go for lower targets or come back with better gear. I was getting hit for 3300 by Linadras flamethrower every second at knight rank and quickly ran out of force and died. There was two other bhs also though.

Awakening will have some semblance of balance. We don't want 20 vs 1. ;)

I am all in for player bounties but it should be pvp related, you get killed by someone in pvp and you can do a /bounty playernamehere amount here or have a box show up upon deathblow where you can place a bounty.
