Unread post

So an idea I have had for many years, and one which sadly never happened, but I was wondering if it is something that could be done here in future?

What I would love to see is current cities actually become battle grounds. We play in a setting which is supposedly in the middle of a huge Galactic civil war......and yet this is something that SWG never really did anything with, and I think that was a huge mistake.

What I would love to see is something a bit like they did with Restuss, only it would move around. So lets say the first major battle was for control of Mos Eisley. For X amount of time, players can enter the city either in a PVP or a PVE instance of that city. PVP and PVE would have strategic targets to either be captured or held on too.

Now lets say that you enter it for PVP. Mos Eisley is currently an Imperial controlled city, so Imperial players will be able to load into the starport as normal, with some tweaks, perhaps the surrounding buildings have all been damaged so an emergency cantina/med centre etc is now based inside the starport for buffs etc. Rebels would load into one of 3 drop off points so they can attack from different angles, as well as avoid bottlenecks.

Now for the 1st period a certain part of the city will be under attack, Imps try and defend the area, whilst Rebels go in and try and capture it. (the rest of Mos Eisley will be no-go zones for anyone) after that 1st period is over, either the Imps or the Rebels will have been successful. (most kills wins) this is then repeated for 4 other zones, making 5 in total.

The PVE element would be largely the same, one would try and defend the city, the others would try and attack it. There would be constant waves of either attackers or defenders, with some additional elite mobs or groups of mobs who would sporatically come to try and re-take specific areas requiring a large group to to defeat. There would be 3 key strategic areas in each section to defend/capture. The victors would be the side who managed to hold control of those 3 zones for the longest period of time over those periods. From a play perspective this would largely feel the same, and could even be coded the same, just with the NPCs in different guise. Then like the PVP element it would roll onto another section, etc.

Who ever has the most victory lays claim to that city. (Mostly bragging rights) and the city will then open up again, either with Imperial or Rebel patrolling NPC soldiers.

So in theory the PVP side could be 3-2 for Imperials, but for PVE it could be 3-2 to the Rebellion. If this is the case, the battle is won by the side with the highest overall PVP kills.

The battle could then move on to say Coronet, or Theed.....etc...in a month or two, to also give people a break from the civil war side and to complete other objectives.

The idea would be to make this game take account of the civil war, and to give a real meaning to PVP, as well as some fun content for PVE to get people playing together. I'd also love to see faction armour skins come in to allow players to visually at least wear their factions armour in battle over their current armour. (just look so much cooler if you ask me? lol)

Thoughts?
