Upcoming changes to Squad Leader

We will be reducing the range of SL buffs in the near future. SL was never meant to be a alt stashed in a Cantina with no risk during gameplay. They will be required to be within a limited distance of the group they are buffing and if buffing a player with a TEF, will aquire a TEF themselves.

The range is still being determined however realistically it will be between 128-256m max. This is a combat support class and like any other combat support class will now be treated as such. The ranges will be adjusted very soon and the TEF portion will be up on test center in the upcoming weeks.

Additional combat support tweaks will be coming in the future. No ETA.

SL already get TEF if your group gets TEF.

Any intentions of putting on a TEF for those factioned/unfactioned squad leaders that are running commands for a neutral BH?

If a SL is providing a buff for someone in the group, bh or factional then yes, the jedi would be able to find the SL and attack them. It's going to make the uncoordinated have trouble dual-boxing a bh/sl combo. The range reduction then potential for attack will not make this a easy buff for a bh anymore. The point is to have real life people participating in these events.

Just so we are clear thought, it's not about punishing a bh or making life easier for a jedi. SL need to be real people running the controls and there in the action. we will still give them some buffer room, but it's no longer going to be a bot or macro alt sitting in a building to give someone free buffs.

Makes slot of sense, excited to see the changes coming up, great work everyone. Looking forward to seeing more diverse groups out there.

I think this is a good change, or idea of one. Id like to see how doing a 367 will work solo though without a SL to help. I have killed multiple dark adepts, and the SL does get the faction Tef, where ever they may be.

I do admit, using a SL to get certain things done in game has been some of the funnest times for me here. Most of them being PVE.

I guess groups would look like this.
2 squad leader's at the keys, that way they can both burst run.
3 Bh's to use their 1500 damage LLC's to smash face upon Jedi.

After thoughts- possibly non related to this discussion.

Will Mission Payouts on full template Jedi be adjusted as well, to insure everyone gets a piece? Along with the un-solo-able 367 missions? at 70k?

KD/Posture down with spray shot dizzy = GG for 367s. No need to drag a SL along for that one.

I think its a necessary, i'd like to see maybe a new master ability that worked similar to the enhancement speed abilities were moves were faster than the speed caps normally. Doesn't have to be as strong as the jedi moves but would definitely make an interesting buff for them.

Last I checked only one SL can be group leader and the SL doesn't get his own buffs. So if you need to kill the SL, look for the slow, weak one and cut him from the herd first.

Wow. I knew they had unlimited range on planet. I didn't realize the SL could be in a building. As I remember on live the SL had to be outdoors to buff anyone who was outdoors and had to be in the same cave/bunker for group members in a cave/bunker to get the buffs.

It seems like on live the range was limited to between 128m and 512m but I can't remember specifically what it was. It may have even changed from time to time. I don't believe it was planet-wide, but difficult to see the past is.

On Emu both SL and group member had to be outside to get buff. Also lost the buff if you went into a cave.

Will squad leader get there abilities changed to effect the SL themself? I was looking at potential combat support builds and I like the thought of running a SL like this but not having his burst run work on himself is going to really hurt.
