Welcome to SWG Awakening - New and returning players!

:::NEW PLAYERS:::

<NEW> was formed with the express intention of helping new/returning players in their first couple of weeks on SWG Awakening. Joining <NEW> isn't a commitment of any kind from you. You don't need to grind for a bit or get your bearings before joining - In fact, we would much prefer you join when you ARE clueless as that is when we can be of most use to you.

Playing in <NEW> means that you can ask your questions in Guildchat and get answers to the basics without needing to use the General (Global) channel as well as being able to find other newer players to group/explore with. We ensure that Guildchat remains a relaxed, friendly place where no one is judged for asking questions that senior players may see as having obvious answers.

For a lot of players - the friends you make whilst new often end up being your consistent friends for the duration. You develop toons at the same pace, from the same point and helping each other develops the essential cameraderie that make MMOs really worth playing.

Even if you're a totally misanthropic solo soon-to-be sith - having the <NEW> tag can sometimes inspire more established players to random acts of kindness or get you invited to guild events as a spectator. When the community know you're new - on this server they move mountains to make you feel welcome.

Ultimately - <NEW> do not want to suck up players out of the guild community and Galactic Civil War - because of this our members 'graduate' after approximately 2 weeks and are removed from the guild. Upon graduation members receive an e-mail with a comprehensive list of clans/player cities who have given me permission to include them. This list, along with the faction info and recruiter's name will allow the graduate to decide from a number of clans who are happy to recruit straight out of the <NEW> pool.

For 'solo' graduates - the option of remaining with <NEW> as an admin/advisor may be available. This is decided on a case-by-case basis.

If you're interested - please send an in game message/mail to one of the following:

::: Ahnull ::: Whetyo ::: Cici :::

If you aren't replied to - please follow your /tell up with a mail and we will get to you ASAP.

Almost ANY player with a <NEW> tag can recruit you. I make sure to give recruitment rights to everyone I induct with my Smee toon.

:::ESTABLISHED PLAYERS:::

How can you help <NEW> ?

The most obvious way is to help any players you see with the <NEW> tag. For a lot of players who DIDN'T play SWG live the game can be a very full-on learning experience. For players more used to themepark MMOs and economies balanced around loot the game may feel sparse or confusing. Speak to <NEW> tagged players and engage them in conversation. Help where you can.

Currently we still need a few more 'senior' bodies to man Guildchat and recruit new players out of Mos Eisley. Any who are interested in parking an alt in the clan or solo players who'd like to join - please mail Ahnull

If your guild run an event - please let Ahnull/Cici/Riku know so that we can tell all online <NEW> members.

Lastly - If you LOVE your profession and want to encourage <NEW>bies to follow in your footsteps - please write a mail detailing your day-to-day activites and WHY you love it so much. The great thing about SWG is that it caters to all kinds of players. Your mail being sent to a new player could be the difference between them deciding "This game isn't for me" because they don't like shooting Worrts with a CDEF pistol and thinking "Holy shit! Why has no other game done anything like CH/BE before?! This is awesome!".

Please send these mails to Whetyo

Without any objections from crafters/clans/anyone who feels I'd impact their game I'll go ahead with this as soon as I can. :)

I got the PA Hall down today for this. I'm funding the whole thing through my main, who is also trying to amass credits to I can play both chars. So things can only move at the pace I can put on it.

Ultimately I'll be hiring a decorate to help me with the player hall. What I want are signs with tips for new players written on them in the main room (UI tips like enabling the xp monitor/waypoint box etc etc). The other rooms from the main room will be themed by each of the starting professions and will have various signs with tips/WPs for newbie friendly vendors for starting supplies in each one.

There will be a sign/signs with lists of recruiters for clans who are happy to take [NEW] graduates after a few weeks and help them along.

If anyone has an unclanned alt that they'd not mind parking in the guild to recruit new players and answer questions in clanchat - on whatever time you feel like without any pressure to contribute more - please send an ingame mail to Whetyo or reply here.

Cheers

Hi, I'm a "veteran" I have 340 days logged as of today. I have plenty of credits, resources and knowledge of the game (especially crafting). I'd like to help in any way I can.
Have you gotten any other response for this? Is anyone else helping?
Jigi- Master TKA/Novice B-E
Cici- Master Artisan/Master Tailor/Master Droid Engineer/Merchant

Because I'm decidedly NOT any of those things (vet, rich etc) - I've not been spamming or pushing this particularly hard in game yet.

Ideally - I want to decorate the guildhall I've placed with signs that have helpful tips for newbies re: the UI etc and then have each room in the hall full of tips for the starting professions/most popular professions. Save the newbies having to read as many guides as possible outside the game. I've not found a decorator yet so it's either waiting until I've got the money to grind architect myself or I find one.

If you'd like - add me to friends in game and we can have a talk. If you've got a clanless toon you're welcome to join the clan itself and have permission to sponsor/induct newbies in.

I'd love to just get ALL the new clanless players in so they have clanchat to talk amongst themselves/arrange newbie hunting groups and sightseeing parties etc. All the stuff they might feel self conscious about asking in General.

We could still use a few more knowledgable and helpful players to answer questions in guildchat and make new players who aren't huge forum users feel welcome.

If any of you established clan members would like to park an alt in the clan to help out - there's no problem at all with you advertising your clan to new players for when they decide to leave [NEW]. Ultimately I want a line of backpacks on the wall in the Guildhall with active clans and their recruiter names written on anyway.

Get in touch with Ahnull/Whetyo/Cici/Kiki in game if you'd like to help out in any way. If your clan run an event that you think new players would be impressed by - let us know a date/time and we can mail members.

BUMP

I've not yet 'graduated' the first crop because I'm still waiting for responses from various guildleaders in game with their guild info. Once I have a comprehensive list of guilds that I can give to people, I'll start ushering them out the door.

For any other new players - Contact Ahnull/Whetyo, Riku or ask anyone else with a <NEW> tag if they'd be kind enough to accompany you to the guildhall near Mos Eisley and recruit you. Everyone with a <NEW> tag has the rights (and had a mail explaining how) to recruit.

It's been a great pleasure over the last few weeks to see the <NEW> guildchat develop its own momentum. A lot of members have really gotten into the swing of helping each other out and giving new players a leg-up. Today when the server stabilises I'll be messaging the first batch of <NEW> graduates to see what their plans are and how we can help them transition into the server population proper.

In terms of my efforts to meet the <NEW> mandate I've been up to the following:

I've started to write introductory mails to deliver some idea of what the 'day to day' life of professions is and give new players a flavour of what they intend to ultimately do. I'll be asking for help in this from players when it comes to professions that I haven't done.

I've also started work on in-game mail with short guides/lists of tips on grinding the various kinds of experience, grouped by profession mainly so players who can't figure the early things out don't need to stop playing in order to alt-tab/quit and read guides online.

Lastly - I've begun to grind alts so that I can deliver free training in all the basic starting professions up to master level. I'm not including politican in this endeavour.

So - What can YOU help with?

If you LOVE your profession and want to help new players understand it's blinding awesomeness - write a mail about your day to day experience of playing (and loving playing) your Master [Profession]. Don't include any tips on actually getting there - these mails are purely about what it is like to play that profession/style at a high/end-game level.

If you have an unusual mix or more off-beat character template, PLEASE write a mail.

Send this mail to Whetyo

Thanks!

This is a wonderful idea and I have sent a couple of players your way. I would be happy to donate some Level 10 combat pets, that make a huge difference when beginning to grind a new character. I'll start working on them today and they will be something people can donate back when they graduate. perhaps? To give an idea of what creature handler is like. Thanks for all you do

Is this still going on? I am curious as I am doing some work that coincides with the concept.

No Mirei, this NEW guild was an offshoot of another guild outside Mos Noobville. He was doing quite a good job at it like 6 months ago, but for what ever reason, pulled up his guild hall and went to a galaxy far far away................

Alright, I will work the concept into my plans to work with the new player base. Thank you for the information. I greatly appreciate it.

How many is needed to make a guild, and how many is needed to keep a guild from being removed?

The minimum number to create a guild is "1", so anyone can drop a guild hall structure, pick a valid name and tag, and create a guild. There are many peeps who have done that, and they remain the only member of their own guild, odd yes, but it happens. Then then go about their own business being king of their own guild, kind of defeats the purpose of the guild concept I might agree.
