Thoughts from Taltos: Caledonian is one of those rare people to whom credits does not matter. He would rather see everyone happy and enjoying the game with the best the server has to offer than to make a billion credits. He spends countless hours helping people with resources, knowledge, and most of all his time. Whenever <MG> puts on a lottery event, Caledonian is the driving force behind it, and I'm told that it was his idea. He will go out of his way to help someone in need if he can. Below are some questions I've asked so you can get to know him better.

Who is Caledonian?

Caledonia is the Latin name given by the Romans to the land in today's Scotland north of their province of Britannia, hence why they built Hadrians wall to keep us out as they never conquered us I like History (especially that period) plus being a Scot myself it seemed natural to use the name so ive used the name across many MMO's for many years. (all my toons you may notice have Scottish/Celtic theme too (Invictus is the exception, being Medically Retired Military that name fitted)

Who is <MG>?

<MG> is a collection of old school MMO'ers (for the most part !!) that try to help out where we can. For myself, it allows me to do what I enjoy in-game and thats using my crafting skills, resources, knowledge etc to help others out. It's not about the credits for me, rather I see myself as materials rich so use that to get enjoyment in helping others be that making and handing out Weapons, Droids, Deco items, Med's etc or handing out resources .

Why Awakening?

Ive tested/Beta'd and played just about every AAA MMO for many years (since DaoC) and IMHO, original EQ and SWG are the best two. I played SWG back in the day on Bria and spent an unhealthy ammount of hours per day running my Chef empire. Once the 'nerf' arrived I moved on but have played SWG on and off over the years. Due to a lull in decent MMO's a few years back I went searching around and found Awakening and havent looked back since. I love the fact that it's hard mode and that you have to work to get yourself up and running and that obtaining items is not the modern day trend of 'easy street' !!

What are some of your in game hobbies?

Crafting and helping others. I do like to get out and about battling occasionally when crafting requests allow. I also like to set myself projects E.G. Deco'ing the 'Ith eye in the Sky' Bespin Mall, nailing Jedi from old man to knight in 3 months, collecting SB resources etc. Future projects include a deco replica of the Death Star/Endor Rebel HQ scene from the film and sorting out a PvP toon to go roaming around overt

Favorite moment on Awakening?

Meeting up with like minded 'old school' SWG players. The friendships and camaraderie is second to none. I only found out the other month for example that Laschana also played on Bria and yet 14 years later were both playing on the same server in the same guild. Show me another MMO that can do that !! Another one would have to be the 2nd Tuskens Bane Anniversary event the whole thing was awesome and the group dancing in the Cantina at the end brought back memories of SWG in its heyday

What would you say is your best quality?

Fun Caledonian fact?

Eck what do I put here !!
Mmmm Okay I admit it, I have somewhat of an Ith obsession, don't ask me why I just do !!!
I hand out crafted items (especially weapons) to Guildies for free but when i'm not online and they end up buying one from my vendor I smile to myself when i check my purchase mails as I 100% tip them back. I end up getting yelled at a lot and they have even taken to making unguilded random named toons so that I dont tip back but I find out who they are eventually !!
Quite chuffed I went from old man to Knight in 3 months

Most embarrassing moment?

Like all resources collectors planting harvs, if I had a cred for every time I traveled an age to find out I've forgotten to pick up pwr or change creds from bank to cash I would be retired by now !!
Being turned into a female Twi at the 2nd TB anniversary event by a CSR !!!! I don't do Twi's (I'd rather lop of their Lekku and have a fry up, cant beat some Calamari ) so I ran and hid in my private house hehe

Any other comments you would like to make?

TBH feel slightly embarassed winning CMoM as I feel there are soooo many peeps out there on this server that are worthy of the award too, I hope in turn they all get recognised as well. Thank you for those that voted really appreciated.

Absinthe is one of the most selfless people i have ever had the honour of meeting, always putting the needs of others above her own be it if you are her best friend or a complete strange. She is not hard to miss with her bright pink skin and can always be found in bedrock at the cantina usually always helping a new player with a starter pack or some advise.A very deserving winner of this great award and a true pioneer and leading example for the server and the community. Thank you for everything you do for awakening.

Who is Absinthe, the person and the character?

Absinthe is an officer of {SnugCo} corporation, managing a group of dedicated crafters to produce the goods adventurers need. Behind the toon is a geeky gamer who adores SWG for its robust city-building tools, uniquely intricate crafting system and most versatile combat professions.

Why Awakening?

I am on Awakening because, initially, I had friends playing here. But I stay on Awakening because I like the style of play, that goals take a little more time and effort to attain. Awakening has a stellar community!

What drives you to do what you do in game?

I do many things in-game. I choose to run a city because I enjoy meeting new arrivals to our server and helping them get of to a great start. Often returning to SWG after a decade, people tend to be in a sort-of sentimental amnesia. It makes me smile to see people so happy to be back! I like being that hot pink fish that gives them their first swoop and reminds them of how to return to their adventures in this galaxy far, far away. For the occasional player who is brand-new to SWG, its a treat to start to reveal the intricasies of this fantastic world.

What are some of your in-game Hobbies?

My hobbies in game:
Resource hounding (when you have roots as an architect, you stash resources like a squirrel preparing for an Ice Age.)
City management and restoration, the player city system here is beyond compare. No other game has done it right. (I love making sure we have shuttleports where we need them.)
Treasure seeking, whether it be from questing, myself, or vendor searching, or making deals with other players, it's really enjoyable to acquire a new goodie!
Player makeovers. Giving someone a new look that they enjoy is very fulfilling.
Cracking jokes and making puns that induce groans in my guild is perennially entertaining.

Favorite moment on Awakening?

There have been a lot of moments that have made me grin during my time, so far, in Awakening. Some highlights: dropping my first shuttleport in Bedrock, the first time I saw someone suggest Bedrock as a destination for a new player, whenever I hear someone appreciating a named weapon they bought from {SnugCo}, and, being honored with the CMOM.

What would you say is your best quality?

My best quality is a wicked sense of humor that often catches my guildies by surprise because it's a very adult sense of humor, lol.

Fun Absinthe Fact?

A fun Absinthe fact is that this toon was created to amuse a friend of mine and just kind of accidentally became my main toon here in Awakening.

Most Embarassing Moment?

Most embarrassing moments in MMOs are usually mistells, right? "Back in the day" in live, I made a particularly descriptive and x-rated mistell into guild chat. I may never live it down.

Why do you think the community nominated you?

Probably because I'm almost always standing on my cantina porch, greeting people and trying to help out. If I can help a player achieve their goals, and just have a great time by smoothing over those rough edges, then I'm a happy Mon Cal.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

The best piece of advice I ever received in SWG was: "Num Lock is auto run. You don't have to press the mouse button the whole time." SWG was my first mmo, and I didn't know about auto run, lol.

What does the future for the person and the character?

What does the future hold for this fish? IRL, I'm growing my own business and I'm pushing it to be what I do until I retire. I hope I never have to 'clock in' again. In game? Hopefully we'll jump to light speed!
