Wow, nobody commenting here...I just made novice too. Anyone sharing any advice at all? Best things to grind? Things to avoid?

if all you care about is XP the more resources used to craft an item the more XP you will get, complexity means nothing for XP
take notice about what resource stat effect what finished product stat so when you are looking at available resources it becomes second nature to know what is a MUST HAVE resource
dont waste really good resources while you are leveling
best to find items that take a lot of resources and use the practice option, it will give you extra xp per craft, not a lot, but 2 xp points is 2 xp points
pay attention to the items that need to get made but stats dont matter. like fiberplast pannels get some crappy resources and toss them into a factory and have lots of panels at your disposal
keep an eye on the socket results. even if it doesn't have the best stats but it has 4 sockets its still a piece you should put on the market even new poor players want to have armor
remember that you will someday want to have a vendor and your NPC vendors will wear your crappy armor so pay attention to what things look like, you may want them for dressing your vendors. its also good practice for custom orders
talk to players, get some hides and segments from combat players, some may be willing to barter you for armor in exchange for their usable loot
some items will only appear in your crafting tool if you are near a crafting station, also some items will only appear if you are near a player crafted crafting station, the public crafting stations will only take you so far
get yourself set up with factories, crafting stations and a house for storage, make sure you can afford to have these structures, if you leave all your inventory in a house and you don't log in for a few days and your house gets removed because of lack of funds all your inventory is gone too, same thing if you try and use a vendor for storage
look to join a city, or start one yourself if you have enough friends, so you can get the crafting bonus from the city specialty
the above applies to all crafting professions, get into chat and meet other players, you may need to know someone from another profession soon to get a part that you cant make yourself

Thanks Lasod,
This was an old post but the info is useful as I was never a big crafter when SWG was live and am going to try becoming an armorsmith on here.

its a mean profession while you are leveling, just keep at it, reaching master is just the start of this profession, but once you are able to make consistent product the profession is super rewarding financially and socially. good luck, your gonna need it kid
