Hi all,
Just want to start with massive thank you to Thor and Shepard and the rest of the dev team for setting up some amazing events recently I take my hat off to you.
Last night was yet again a great event on naboo for the maze so unique and lots of fun. Was great to see the devs listening taking feedback about bosses to was amazing.
Anyway to my point, we got a new badge last night the brave soldier badge which I am honoured and lucky to have got with everyone else there.
My suggestion is maybe doing other event badges like MVP for an event voted by there peers there, or pvp champion for the pvp events and crafting champion for crafting events?
Anybody else who wishes to add to this or has an opinion you know me always open to hear others
Thank you

They can do custom badges but it requires them change some minor code, including changes to tre files. Which would require a new client tre file download every time a change is made. Right now only devs can do this and it's just like everything else it takes time. Time is really something our dev team is struggling to find these days. When we cranked up everyone had a lot of spare time. Career changes or additions have affected many staff members the last year.
Do to this updates are coming slower and probably will continue at this pace until we find more, qualified volunteers that have time. We've added people in the past to our staff that are gung-ho right out of the gate and find our real quick this isn't some simple little thing. It's a monster and complex. Anything you take on takes time and commitment. Many of our devs either bail within a month or become entangled to the point they wish the bailed after two or three weeks.
I know, I know. Cynar you are being a negative Nancy. I'm almost to the point where I have considered closing the suggestions area. While there are some great ideas here we just don't have the dev staff to tackle anything new. We've got over a years worth of code from emu and custom code that Xiphos and gang have been working on. With a little luck they might have it ready for release in [insert guess here]. They've done a fantastic job, however family, work, real life counts first.
Anyway thank you for the suggestion Turin. It's something we know how to do and would love to do for each scheduled event, like everything else it just takes time we don't have to handle anymore

Thank you for the reply cynar its much appreciated and it's great to have an explanation from someone like you given me more light on things :-).
I know alot of the suggestions will never come to light due to a lot of what you just mentioned.
If anything i love the suggestion forum just to throw ideas around with others, getting there point of view and how they would do it, in an ideal world yes they would be in game but i am more than happy with how the game currently is.

I'm just glad we've got a patient community that is understanding. We've got Thor & Sheppard trying to help keep you guys entertained during coding lulls, they are awesome. Xiphos, Abraxas, and Shadow deserve like a emu award for that they do in the background. Between coding and tweaking they do an amazing job with the little time they have. I'll be honest if it weren't for them we'd be making zero progress. What Ed and I do in the way way background is so minimal compared two years ago.
We love Swg but real life has changed us and our habits from they were 14 years ago. We'd all love to do this full time, it just wouldn't ever be enough to put food on the tables or pay kids college tuitions. We are always looking for coders that have time to help us out! No we don't have time to train people to code in C or to teach lua. You have to bring those skills to the table and have to be patient. We don't give new dev staff keys to the house until we get to know you for awhile.

You should update the MoTD in game saying you are looking for qualified people. I know many don't even glance the forums.Cynar wrote:We are always looking for coders that have time to help us out!
