Rant on!

Now I am not one for pulling up the blouse and whinging about how hard this server is and wah wah wah, but....

When I go to the trouble of aquiring a kick arse 90% base 39%stun 80% Elctricity Comp suit (thanks Teppo) which is fully conditioned and equiped, slap some bivoli enhanced JANTA! buffs on that kick my health stat up by a huge 2881, drink a couple of hits of vasarian brandy, eat some pikatta pie and vagnarian canape and have a bunch of guildies wait around 10mins for me to turn up at the Geo cave (5min shuttle waits grrr) only to see my health bar dissapear and be killed in 2 seconds by the lowliest of geonosians, then things just aren't being fun anymore.

Tone that crap down just a little please...sheesh!

Don't get me wrong here, I love the fact that this server is hard core but hey that is just rediculous. #notfunatall #irritatingffs!

Its a trial and error, learning process but perhaps some synthsteak/exo protein wafer (dmg reduction food) and medic skills might help.

Totally understand the long process of re-buffing and travel time.

Synthsteak/exo protein wafer is definately the way to go for this, you also need a little bit of luck. Geos are known to have the occasional freak hit, I was hit for a staggering 1845 in one hit when I was grinding some XP back in the caves. I'm a Master Defender/ MLS and was stacked on synthsteak and exo protein wafer, with Janta buffs. I also had a 1.2k bleed in the same sitting, so again, make sure you are prepared to deal with the big hits and ticks.

I'm thinking it may have been just a freak hit that got you, which unfortunately is just unlucky.

Harsh lesson,

What's your template? (if you have no ranged mitigation...that could be a reason)

By the way, geonosian guards hit really hard, no matter the built you have. With a team, the geo cave is manageable!

I was there for the incident. In Ank's defense, he is very experienced and knows what to expect in the Geo caves. He did everything right and got popped right inside the door anyway as well as another member of our group. Tough mobs are one thing, but at least give us good and rewarding fights. Prepping for the trip and gathering together takes fifteen minutes to half an hour. Getting one-shotted takes one second and usually ends up wasting the entire game session for the player involved. There has to be a better way of making high-end mobs tough without the obscene damage output. Perhaps resistance or mob self-heal increases could be considered. Those two things might make the fights longer and give more tactical choices for players to juggle foods, spices, and other tricks of the trade.

Thanks for the constructive feedback guys.

I am a master rifle and master doc so have the range mitigation and the heals covered, and yes it was one of those freakish hits, but why are they even a thing?? I am all for a good hard fight and am not at all miffed if I die during one but those freakish hits are just no fun at all.

We as a group are pretty well versed in the Geo caves and can handle ourselves quite well in there but those huge hits...

I feel your pain, I'm sure we have all been one shotted at least once (it happened to a friend of mine with me yesterday). It is frustrating to spend the time buffing travelling etc. But again, it is just luck of the draw.

Freak hits suck, but looking at them stats it looks like you got the worst of a freak hit. Nothing you can do about them I'm afraid, and I doubt anything will be done to change them.

Did you have a shield generator? I find those invaluable down there? And being one shotted is awfully frustrating we all know how you feel...it happens

Yes its two dice rolls vs stun rather then one,still might get one shotted tho...Get teppo to make you a crate as your going to need a crate they burn out fast!!

The Geo Caves are considered an end game dungeon. We pumped those up about 2 years ago and never looked back. When you guys cry those tears of pain we drink them up and know we did good!!! >:D

In all seriousness though the geo caves are meant to be a challenge and the emu defaults are too much of a cake walk. We didn't want the place to be on food farm like it was in live. That way everyone had a fair shot at loot and in most cases it takes teamwork to get through the place.


Yes it can be frustrating, but if everything in life were easy the rewards wouldn't taste as good in the end!

I don't want it to be easy, far from it, that is a milenial thing as far as I am concerned, and the rewards are very satisfying when you have completed a run in there and managed to score some nice bones off the Aklay but as Peleliu said...

The difference between making a mob self healing or changing the way it reacts is far different from buffing or damage mods being altered. One would require recoding, the other is just changing stats. Our dev staff has been massively challeged for time the last 14 months. We have to be very picky and choosey about what they can work on when they have time. Weighed and measured dungeon recoding loses out to big fixes and content corrections.

I had the exact same experience. First four: kill them one at a time from OUTSIDE the cave. If you set foot across the line in the cave, you will get all four at once. If you are brawler temp, intim 1 and 2, then worry about the killing of it. DO NOT LOOT! kill each of them in turn. Next four: same thing. You might get 2 of them, but the key part is do NOT let them shoot you. That is the lethal aspects. If you are ranged, suck up and run in. You can shoot and then LOS them around the corner just outside the entrance, but keep them in melee range. Otherwise, it is bleed and stun gun. Third pull: you can get this pull to come in two different waves. You are still LOS and keeping them in melee range. Once you get them down, you just rush in and grab the rest. You don't loot any of them before this last pull. If you do, they will respawn on you.. guaranteed.

After that, you will have the idea. Don't expect to kill the spider solo or even make it past the force klikniks. They will straight murder you.

If you are just looking to farm Geos for loot items, the first four to eight of them, if you DPS and tactics are sound, can be farmed really fast. Can get the cubes, paste, schems, etc..

I wouldn't recommend doing geo with ranged characters. The geos do a LOT more damage in ranged and you don't have much durability as a rifleman. You're just setting yourself up to be annoyed and frustrated by how slow you'd have to go to survive and any mistake will likely kill you. Bring a stacker of some sort and geo becomes a lot easier due to toughness + engaging in melee.

In my opinion the high end stuff is spot on it's challenging and fun. I was there with ankton today and yes does it suck when you get one shot sure but you learn from it and come back stronger. I've been one shot quite a few times at dwb and geo but I learn from it and I love the thrill knowing it could happen at any time also makes me use tactics to stop it from happening.

I know you well ank and I know you were frustrated today but just take a little few hour break and try again.

The loot tables can be royally sucky but if they weren't would I go out trying for hours upon ends to get good loot, no I'd get everything and get bored quickly.

For me the balance is great ATM.

We will go tommorow buddy and slaughter them all :)

0 prevented??? Sounds like an armour hole or 1 of your pieces didnt have stun??
