Hey guys, I don't want to start another argument on whether or not this is a PvP server. I was just wondering why there is a lack of it, and if there is good ways to bring it to the server. Please post your ideas on how to jumpstart PvP, and if you don't want PvP tell us why. I don't want any fights to start, so please express your opinion kindly. Thanks!
P.S I am also wondering why there is almost 0 guild wars or Faction wars
P.P.S Yes, I know there are other threads about this topic but a lot of them seem a little old and outdated

i dont pvp because of the following.
dont know a good template, a starter one at least. We will say CM/Rifles for starters..i see this written in some threads. But what happens after that? What weapons do i use? Why do i use that one? What do i use in MCM to help with what im using in rifleman? Why? Is there other weapons i should be using? How do i pack more of a punch? Tapes? what do i go after? where do i get them if i dont have the money? what template do i use to farm for them? Why do you recommend that template? Where do i start to farm for them when all i have is a starter weapon i grinded with?
Now im not asking specifically to respond to these questions but when people speak of something that they want that id like to be apart of and ask for a little help i get a link viewtopic.php?f=73&t=3908 or viewtopic.php?f=105&t=7964 or someone saying in chat a template they like.
well this is helpful Dunka here has gone over rifleman but am still overwhelmed a bit looking at it, he talks about armor and foods which im a little lost on but maybe after reading it a few times i can get there or Drakathos, yes this is helpful right up until they speak of tapes..well i have to buy that with no credits so that leaves missions or farming for it which leads back to some questions above
What about MCM? what if i dont like ranged or rifles or MCM? maybe i want to have fun with CH or just try something else all together..but people say thats a waste dont bother..
again im not asking for you or anyone to specifically answer any of these questions but those questions on all pvp templates is the thought process i go through just to give up and go back to pve or making other characters to pve with. Because in the end when i see people speak of it or having to offer credits to get it to happen and im a first timer going against those who are confident?
Im going to get destroyed.
I think the most frustrating thing about it for me is that i am embarrassed to ask and when i do some responses i get is go check the forums..its hard to do when you dont know what you are looking for. Yea these two links are helpful but what about the rest of the professions...i dont want to waste my time building something, spending credits to find out i dont like it to rebuild 4 or 5 times i decide on something.
So for me that why i have never pvp'd

unsure how i managed to reply to myself ..also what i fear is that this thread will go on for a few weeks and then die off or that someone will respond and i may ask a question or two and get some answers i may not understand or feel isnt helpful to what im asking and then those people will stop responding all together for whatever reasons..

I love those vids mate! I also did not realise you were ZIng!
For other folks to learn:
Youtube search Sami Laihonen and Anckertv
Both are mostly jedi but the same combat basics apply to most profs.

The handful of people that represented my guild tried to get people interested over a year ago. We went around and destroyed bases, called out people to attack us, and basically provoked the entire server. We got very little interest from the community. The common answer was "set up an event" but we did not want to have scripted PvP.

copy and pasted from that other forum. none of this is me. this is what i ask for when i ask what template i should be. still feel simply stating a build and then tell me to figure it out wont get me to pvp.
noticed how that rhymed when i read it. wether any of this is true i dont know but i will officially make a pvp toon because of it
In today's SWGEmu PvP, you must be willing to adapt to what the meta of SWGEmu PvP is.
Meaning there are only a few PvP viable templates at the moment (as posted below as suggestions), which you should be playing if you want to be most effective in PvP.
Template's to play in today's SWGEmu PvP (my suggestions);
Ranged Template (In Order) -
This is the easiest rifleman template, +85 def vs dizzy (with tapes/zabrak), and all around really tanky, but you don't have suppression fire, be advised, and you'll need med use tapes.
- Master Rifleman / 4xxx Doctor / 3x4x Fencer.
This one is the most common rifleman template, and also for people who are new to rifleman PvP, and are needing to get use to what PvP is today.
- Master Rifleman / 43xx Doctor / 44x4 Marksman / xx4x Pistols / (or 44xx Doctor & xx3x Pistols), (or 4x3x Doctor & xx4x Pistols).
This template is for someone who understands how to PvP, works great for AoE Stims, but also for someone who has good dots, 200+ potency & 450+ effectiveness, if you do not have good dots, try to not go this template.
- Master Rifleman / 43xx Doctor / 4xx4 CM / (or 44xx Doctor & 4xx3 CM), (or 4x3x Doctor & 4xx4 CM).
Has melee mitigation 2, helps against melee, but you don't have suppression fire, be advised.
- Master Rifleman / Doctor 4x3x / xx4x Fencer (or with 43xx Doctor).
This one is for someone who understands PvP, and wants to be a team player.
- Master Rifleman / 43xx Doctor / 44xx CM (or 4x3x Doctor & 44xx CM).
This template has everything, mind heal, and you can apply dots and AoE Stims, but you NEED med use tapes for this template, so only will work until publish 5 comes out.
- Master Rifleman / 4xxx Doctor / 44x3 CM.
There are other templates to go, using the same format for the templates above, it really matters if you have a good weapon, and dot weapons for Carbineer and Pistoleer.
Melee Template (In Order) -
This template is the easiest out of everything, if you are very new to PvP, then I would suggest going this template to improve.
- Master Fencer / xx4x Pistols / 43xx Doctor (or 4x3x Doctor).
This template is great for team pvp, you get lunge1 & lunge2 works wonders in group PvP while focusing a target.
- Master Fencer / Master Brawler / 43xx Doctor (or 4x3x Doctor)
This template is for people who are use to pvp, and as said before must have good dots and know how to kite, or don't play.
- x4x4 TK / Master CM / 3xxx Doctor.
This template is for people who has good dots, and wants to be tanky.
- TKM OR Master Fencer / 4xx3 CM / 4xxx Doctor (or 4xx4 CM / 3xxx Doctor).
This template is tanky support, your only job is to support a group of players.
- TKM OR Master Fencer / 3xxx Doctor / 44xx CM.
There are other templates to go, using the same format for the templates above, it really matters if you have a good weapon, and dot weapons for Swordsman and Pikeman.
Gear:
For Rifleman,you'll need a 400+ max damage UN-pupped jawa.
Rifleman will NEED rifle accuracy +25 & +8 rifle speed.
For Melee, um I would say a stun baton that's 300+ min and 350+ max, your more support than anything.
Fencer will NEED 1h accuracy +25 & +6 1h speed.
Armor:
A PVP armor mini suit consists of composite armor bicep and/or bracers, boots, chest and helmet.
Mini suits are used to help regen rates for pvp.
The downside to this is that the armor pieces decay faster because there are less pieces to absorb the decay from damage.
Also, you need to be aware of armor holes on yourself, your team mates and your enemies.
Many newb PVPers who consider themselves Pro, fail to understand that all pieces need to be as uniform as possible.
If a player were to wear a bone armor bracer, it is possible they would get hit there and take a great deal of damage.
This is also true for types of protection on the armor, for example if one piece is missing stun protection and that area gets hit with a stun weapon such as a jawa rifle or stun baton, the player will take full damage.
Ranged area attacks such as Strafe Shot 2 are commonly used to "scan for armor holes".
It is also useful to do this with both your jawa rifle and T21.
You may notice a certain player on the enemy team take more damage than the rest.
This means that you have located an armor hole on an enemy.
Target that enemy and use the appropriate weapon and attack to exploit your target's weakness.
Stats on the armor: 90%/36% Stun helm, rest 85%+ & up, (pref 90% but if your broke your broke).
BE pants (+25 wound treatment/+25 Injury treatment).
Aakuan Ring: Gives +5 ranged defense, have on any PvP toon.
Nyax Necklace: Gives +5 Combat Medic Effectiveness, should have if your cm, helps with applying dots, and mind heal.
PSG's: Forget belts, this is much more important than that. It's basically armor for everything.
Ideal stat's you would want for PSG's(unsliced, try to slice your PSG's);
2700+ Condition
Energy 36%
Electricity: 32%
Stun: 32%
Heat: 32%
Cold: 32%
Has 0 Encumbrance, so you don't have to worry about that.
PUP's:You want to be using Ranged and Melee pup's on your weapon, it adds more damage to whatever weapon your using, helps in PvP .
CA's/AA's To Use: Even though in the next publish med use/cm use tapes wont work, for now you'll need them. Since there is no eta on when publish 5 comes out.
The rest is very helpful but isn't crucial,
but if you have the credits then I suggest getting range defense/melee defense +25 along with defense vs states (dizzy, posture change down, intimidate, blind, knockdown, etc etc).
You should also have +25 Terrain Negotiation for kiting if you can afford it.
Also Wound treatment speed, and injury treatment speed.
Foods:
Citros Snow Cake: This allows you to hit your target(accuracy) much better , it's a must for PvP.
Pitakkta Pie: Give 50+% chance to dodge an attack, a MUST in PvP, makes you very tanky you could say.
SynthSteak: This is damage mitigation food, use this before fighting.
Exo-Protein Wafers: Use after Synthsteak damage mitigation is depleted, keep eating these as fast as you can, they have almost no filling.
Vagnerian Canape: Use 1 to 3 depending on quality. Gives over +500 focus/willpower, use for LOS'ing and kiting.
ThunderCloud: +20 ranged defense, helps you from being hit in PvP.
Havla: You want this if your a cm, so when your applying dots, or using AoE stims you can basically spam it, also helps with curing dots quicker, very important.
Drinks:
Vasarian Brandy: A MUST for PvP, gives you +400 Mind, Willpower and Focus.
For PvP purposes, if you know your going to be PvP'in, try to start popping Brandy 30 minutes before a fight.
For example, a fight may happen in 30 minutes, so I would start popping brandy, I would first pop one brandy, and then 10 minutes later pop another, etc etc.
So you can have 3/4 brandy's constantly on you.
Ithorian Mist: Gives +15 defense vs dizzy, if your not getting dizzied, the better chance you have of not rofel-flopping.
That's really the only drinks you use to my knowledge, maybe Blue Milk(500+ mind), if your about to die, and you have filling available.
Spices:
These are used when your going down (dieing) or being heavily targeted in PvP.
Neutron Pixie: Pop this, if your dieing to health & action.
Muon Gold: Pop this, when your dieing to mind.
Flurr-Cle Onion: +500 mind, pop this when your dieing to mind.
There are other spices that give +100, and +50 mind, but you'll have to find them yourself.
Stat migrations:
Stat migrations are important because it helps with improving your regen, and SAC while using weapons.
Zabrak (has Equilibrium amazing in PvP)
+10 defense vs dizzy
+10 defense vs Intim
+10 defense vs stun
900 Health
300 Strength
300 Constitution
900 Action
300 Quickness
300 Stamina
1000 Mind
500 Focus
900 Willpower
Human
400 Health
400 Strength
400 Constitution
400 Action
400 Quickness
400 Stamina
1100 Mind
800 Focus
1100 Willpower (this is why you go human, that regen on focus/willpower)
Mon Calamari
650 Health
300 Strength
300 Constitution
650 Action
300 Quickness
450 Stamina
1300 Mind (this is why some player's go Mon Calamari, +1300 mind)
800 Focus
650 Willpower
Only 3 I'd suggest atm for PvP.
Macros and binding them:
You want to be using macros and bind them, because in PvP it makes things quicker and faster to do, via being more effective in PvP.
Have a /prone macro
Curing dizzy
USE THIS for your /stand for whenever your prone/kneel hit this macro for standing up
/ui action clearCombatQueue;
/Stand;
/healstate self dizzy;
Curing states that are applied to you
/ui action clearCombatQueue;
/healstate dizzy;
/healstate self blinded;
/healstate self intimidated;
Curing Dots off you (adding self is up to you, since you may want to cure a teammate)
/ui action clearCombatQueue;
/curepoison;
/extinguishfire;
/firstaid;
/curedisease;
Healing Yourself (adding self is up to you, since you may want to heal a teammate)
/ui action clearCombatQueue;
/healdamage;
For Cm's
/ui action clearCombatQueue;
/healmind;
To db someone(rifleman).
/ui action clearCombatQueue;
/snipershot;
Have mind shot 1 & 2 together for bleeds (Rifleman & Swordsman & Fencer bleeds).
/mindshot1;
/mindshot2;
noticed how that rhymed when i read it. wether any of this is true i dont know but i will officially make a pvp toon because of it

The few posts above to me is why there is little PvP, and it was the same on live. Sure we have a sandbox, and can make any template we want, but when only a few templates are viable in PvP, which saps out the creativity and forces a cookie cutter approach. There also is no incentive or very little incentive to participate.
The most PvP on the server right now is the BH Missions on Jedi. That also has developed into the same state as above, only a few BH templates are used, only a few Jedi templates are used, and its a pure numbers game as to who will win (talking full template jedi here).
If you know the outcome before the fight begins, what is the point to commit to the fight?
