Lest we forget...

Today is a day to remember those fallen in battle (and those that lived too). Whatever your nation is, we remember them.

Took a couple of pics today. One was in our market square with the wall of rememberance, one the poppies at the Methodist church behind it, and one from Durham Cathedral tonight (which won 4th price in the twitter 'world cup of Cathedrals' today

'We woz robbed'!

the Durham cathedral (such a wonderful building) service had a great band (the Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers) and even played a medley of music from Dr Who before the interval. There were representitives from the States and France also.

Thanks so much for this post! We all need to be reminded of the "1%" who are doing their jobs so that we can remain free.

And in America, Veterans Day is more for the living and Memorial Day is for those who have fallen in service. You said it best...this is something and someone we can all rally around!

I thank all my brothers-in-arms around the world. Those of us served/serve for all different reasons. Some are required, others are volunteers for whatever their reasons. All know they may be called to pay the ultimate price, and all sign up anyway. Remembrance and appreciation go a long way.

Not all sacrifices made by vets are the final one, and others make sacrifices of time, family, rights, freedoms, and permanent disability. Either way, no matter what, you all have my respect and regard.
