It was before the downtime/rollback - I lost a couple citizens/houses due to it (which frankly I was happy about!). The same people have not dropped back off, nor have their houses poofed since the rollback. :( Maybe it was causing issues, or just didn't get turned back on? Hopefully they are able to bring it back soon. I would love to see the empty, unused houses go away!!

I must agree Laschana.

It's possible that the new housing cleanup system is still too relaxed, at least imho. I won't go into exact time spans, since the admins have already said they won't discuss it. However, I'll say - I /think/ many folks would like to see a more aggressive stance. There is no need to wait for a year or more (purely based on what's disappeared thus far) to call someone "inactive."

I'm primarily interested in this topic because as clutter is removed, active folks will see opportunities to consolidate player cities, the environment in general will be more "fresh" - and most importantly - new active players will have optimal space in long-standing cities cluttered by buildings that have been empty and unused for ages.

I believe the cleanup was on for two server restarts which may have lead to the database issues that didn't allow the server to restart. I believe it has been turned off for the time being and once they work out the bugs, it will be turned back on.

I personally don't think their should be a more aggressive stance. I'm in the military and I have to go away for training or deployments and it would be nice to be able to come back with my buildings still here :). It would be nice to know how long I had though before they would go poof so I would know to take everything down if I knew I was going to be gone longer than that. I completely understand on not giving out the specifics on this though.

That is incorrect information. The house cleanup was not what caused the DB issues. It was turned off for a spell, but will be enabled once our dev staff comes back from their much needed break. That system has been tested throughly. We respect our military and a less aggressive stance was taken into account for that very reason. We also understand people have health issues, family loss, etc. While we are understanding we also aren't responsible for that. We are fair, but we also have to look out for all players.

To echo what Cynar said, structure cleanup was not the cause of the DB issues. It was disabled though to rule it out, as were alot of things.

Structure cleanup will be coming back soon, and with a vengeance. :)
