SWG Awakening 4 Year Anniversary and General News for the Year 2018

Anniversary Information:

Hello members of SWG Awakening,

In celebration of our 4 year adventure through this Star Wars Galaxy together there will be some server wide celebrations run by the staff team, to kick off the event, on Thursday the 8th of November (BST) we will have a fun packed day of events for everyone to take part in, including a Gauntlet Arena, Costume Contest, Beast Wars (CH), PvE Event, Race, PvP Tournaments and a Treasure Hunt. The day after this event we will be turning on double XP from Friday 9th to Monday 12th of November. As per usual we will also have a couple of commemorative paintings (one lot per account) and a badge (able to be redeemed on all toons) for everyone who logs in from Thursday through to Monday. To be eligible to get the anniversary rewards you will need to restart all Awakening clients and the launcher if you have any open, this is so the updated tre file downloads to your Awakening install.

General Awakening News for 2018:

Over this past year on Awakening we have seen many changes, both minor and major. To begin the year we had a change in administration for Awakening with Cynar and BigQEd formally stepping down and handing over the responsibility of running the server to our current admin team. Along with the change in management and the recruitment of new staff we also saw the roll out of Publish 9 which saw many of the issues that came with Publish 8 resolved and the addition of some new content like the Force Ranking System, the Corellian Corvette and a reduce in shuttle timers just to name a few of the changes. Publish 9 has also seen a decrease in scheduled restart times due to increased stability of the server, the restarts now take place at 8AM EST on Mondays and Fridays. In other news, this year we have completed the extremely successful rollout of our Discord server (voice & text communication platform) which supports a chat bridge between the in-game general chat and the discord server’s text channel #general-chat (To join the discord server you can follow this link: https://discord.gg/QxQSXwY) We have also revitalised the Awakening Facebook page (https://m.facebook.com/swgawakening/) alongside our Twitter (https://twitter.com/SWGAwakening) in addition we have begun a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJiQV9 ... nX2lj4bvWg) with the hopes to expand our social media presence more in the future.

In 2018 we also saw a much needed update to the website, this allowed for a more modern look and a more streamlined experience compared to our old outdated software. Through this update we were also able to implement a ‘Donation Statistics’ bar on the forums section of the website so our players can see how we are faring in terms of meeting baseline operating costs for the month. However with this update our Bug/Tickets system was unfortunately forced into retirement due to incompatibility issues with the new website software and has not as of yet been replaced, if you need to submit a bug report or a ticket please contact a member of staff directly.

We have had the addition of more events on the server thanks to our two new ECs, Heimdallr and Cyclone in the form of monthly competitions, scheduled live events and unscheduled random events. These events include but are not limited to; the reboot of the GHS and CMoM competitions, the monthly Scavenger Hunt and Find Heimdallr events and more recently the PvP competition as well as the May 4th celebrations and more scheduled events in conjunction with community members.

Many minor patches and additional content updates have been pushed out in 2018 as well with the most notable being the addition of the vendor relist function and advanced vendor search function on the bazaar, as well as the automation of Galaxy Harvester posts for current resources and the replacement of the broken Enhancement Terminals, but there have been many other small patches pushed out through the year in addition. In this post I am undoubtedly missing some things due to the huge amount of advancements that we have been making here at Awakening with many more in the pipeline right as we speak.

Happy Anniversary Awakening!

I just want to commend the current Staff(both old and new) on a super job. I'm glad to see Awakening is still going strong and here's to many more years to come. Woohoo, happy anniversary Awakening. This server truly is the best, we have a great community, a staff team that tirelessly works to make our play time a fun, streamlined experience! I can't believe it has been four years since the start of Awakening, I look forward to seeing many more too!
