Is there any confirmation (by Ed) that someone has unlocked, without naming any names of course.
If nobody has unlocked, how close is the nearest person?
I am hopeful, enjoy the challenge. Definitely don't want it handed out. One of the biggest draws for me to this server was that it was hard to obtain and there wouldn't be many glow sticks running around.
There is obviously an element people aren't exploring beyond the normal grind towards jedi people are used to and that mystery I think will keep the number of glow sticks down.

The point of it being hard is not everyone is going to succeed in their quest for unlock. It seems that is a concept not many people are used to. If you are burnt out, the game isn`t going anywhere. Go enjoy other ventures, enjoy the community... have fun and maybe that fire will come back. Lets not make it easier to unlock... to me that is more of an insult to the community than just making it a starting profession...

I may be missing the point. Jedi is enabled. The Old man will visit when a player has achieved the required criteria (although I must admit there was a very short period that a dev disabled our unlock system and they are no longer a dev). Nothing else needs said on the subject and all the Chicken Littles need to stop... and if by chance someone has told you something to the contrary, they are wrong. I ask for those that care about Awakening stop with this. It's not a positive path (and it hurts morale... which may be what some want. i.e. other servers).
I hope by now everyone understands, it's extremely simple to hand out Jedi... even servers run by mentally challenged individuals, do it (i.e. Krow/Toxic ;D). The code is there from EMU to enable Jedi. Not to mention other failed servers that had it enabled and easy to achieve have made their code public for all to use. Fact is, we did NOT want it to be easy to achieve... and before the server launched we had many discussions about the level of difficulty and if it were left up to Cynar no one would have Jedi for a year... I said 6-9 months... if that gives any "indicators".
We've said it a million times we DO NOT want a million people running around with Glow Sticks.... when you earn it, you EARN it on Awakening. People who stick with it will EARN an elite class, but not easily.
Honestly it's pretty simple, if you crawl away and join an "easy sauce" server... everyone will be Jedi and EVERYONE will get bored very quickly, so what's the point? I completely understand for those who lack intestinal fortitude and/or attention spans, though.

I think there are a few people who couldn't hang. Was Ancker one of them?

I don't know but I will tell you this; those who couldn't hang didn't deserve it. They would have been bad at their class (most likely) and a detriment to the community and any pvp situation they touch.
Harsh I know, but as you can imagine I have a high standard for jedi, and a low tolerance for douchebaggery within that class.
Those who couldn't/can't hang are typically the instant gratification type. They are the same people that jumped all over the NGE bandwagon and rolled jedi immediately when they didn't have the attention span to unlock via holos or the village prior to that. These are the same people who throw huge temper tantrums when killed by a BH, or call those who best them in pvp exploiters. These are the same people who camped the acklay back in the day or train krayts on groups who are too close to them.
If the only reason someone plays here is to unlock, then I say good riddance. You should applaud their exodus. SWG was awesome because of the community, the economy, the crafting system, the forums, the GCW, the BH hunting mechanic etc.
Not because you could play a jedi.

So because someone doesnt have time to be patient and play the class, as intended, they should just be handed an alpha class?
Put in the time, or play a different class. I have no sympathy.

Hey I get it, I work 60+ hours a week, take online classes, have four kids who are quite active with football and other extracurriculars. Sometimes I just cant play as much as I want.
Doesn't mean I am owed a Jedi, or an easy system of obtaining one.
As for my soapbox, if you don't like it, maybe you should avoid internet forums full of competitive people. Just a "big picture" thought.

Here Here Celt! Real life doesn't revolve around video games. you play what you can when you can and do what you can. There are no blue froggies here.Celt wrote:Hey I get it, I work 60+ hours a week, take online classes, have four kids who are quite active with football and other extracurriculars. Have to agree 100% here. I've been at it for about 6 months now and I wouldn't have it any other way. Life happens. Life comes first. ALWAYS. We, as gamers, know and accept this. However, it should never be used as an excuse to be butt-hurt because someone feels they are owed something.feeja wrote:Here Here Celt! Here, unlike RL these days, simple participation does not guarantee the trophy. Hard work, dedication, patience and ability do. There are much easier servers out there but that is not why we are here. We are here because believe and support what the devs are trying to accomplish.
Harsh? Maybe. True? Definately.

I think a lot of those who are sympathetic to the other side would see if from the pragmatic side if they understood.
Spend some time hunting these fools. By fools I am talking about the instant gratification crowd, not the professionals like Kryst was, or Zurham or Suriel. Put your time in. You will invest a decent amount of time getting templated. Then you have to pay for all your gear, food and buffs. Want SL buffs? There is another toon to grind. Once you get ALL that set up, buy your droids and such. Now, go pull some missions off the boards. You will be tempted to go for the big boys. Big Boys = Big Paydays. But not really because a fully template knight only pays you like 230k. I can grind that in about an hour on missions. Mission money is guaranteed, that knight might kill you.
Now go hunt the guy. All you have is droids, because you really have no clue how to hunt a person yet. So you wait for waypoints. Found him. No you get roflstomped because you didn't bother testing your toon out on anything but quenkers and BH npcs. Ok try it again, rebuff, more food. More droids. Oh wait, the guy logs on you. Ok go pull another mission. Got it, now go hunt that guy. Get roflstomped again. Crap, this isn't that easy.
Wash/rinse/repeat.
Now after a few weeks of practice, probably 500k in wasted buffs, food, broke gear. Maybe more. You finally figure out how to kill someone. He wasn't a knight, but you cant kill a knight, because you don't know what you are doing. But you manage to kill a 120k mission. Good job. You got paid. You are bleeding credits like a stuck pig, but you finally got a kill. This may not be the fast road to riches that you thought it was but good lord is it addictive. You are hooked.
Wait, what are all these tells? Oh yea, they guy is lighting you up for killing him. He is calling you every vile name in the book. Wow, he has /spit on you about 47 times. Oh well /addignore.
So you decide to take a break. Let's go pvp. Cool, found a base to crack. having a blast killing some rebs. Oh look a jedi. You don't have his mission, but hey, that's what we do right? Kill Jedi? Cool. Oh! very nice, you kill him in open pvp. You had a little help, but it was mostly you. Things aren't nearly as hard when he doesn't have a full force bar, and he is distracted, maybe has a few dots on him when you found him.
Oh. More hate tells. /addignore. How cute, he logs on an alt. The hate tells begin again. Oh check this out, people know you are a BH so you have been citybanned from every city you roll into just because they assume you are after their jedi. Every. Single. City.
This is what it is like to hunt the instant gratification crowd. This is what it is like to hunt the ebayers and adolescents who couldn't couldn't grind their toon. This is what it is like to hunt those who have no respect for what they have earned, because they didn't actually earn it.
So yea, might be a soapbox, but I have very little tolerance for those who don't want to put in the time to earn the alpha class that my toon is built to hunt. You may call it preaching. I call it experience.
I applaud the Awakening team for keeping it under their hat, making is mysterious and standing their ground. It makes the game better. I promise you.

Agreed. Nicely said, old friend. (and thanks for the shoutout)xtwiztedxsinzx wrote:*stands and applauds Celt*
Damn, you are almost making me want to hang up the robe and saber I don't have yet and go full time BH!
Sounds flippin' awesome!
EDIT:
For what it's worth, we as true Jedi, always appreciated the time the true hunters put into their toon. We expected the fight to be brought to us and I can't tell how disappointing it was when it wasn't. We spent a ton of time, effort and credits to get where we were. Seemed a shame to 2 shot a hunter who was unlucky enough to pull our mission.

Hey again everyone!

Now.... I have finally unlocked!
I've updated the main thread to reflect it + some screenshots.
I tried to read through all the feedback, but most sounded like an attack/insult to me, not sure if it was directed at me or someone else.
Never the less, wont reply to it, since I will only anger those people even more, and I gain nothing myself by doing so.
My last step from 6/7 - 7/7 was a Time Gate... (Kinda knew, but did not want to believe it)
I haven't played for a long, long time. Mostly due to Real Life time issues, but logged on a few times during that time to check my Shrine Status.
A few days ago I was still stuck at 6/7, (148 days) but today I unlocked 7/7. (155 days)
I might continue to upload screenshot on my thread. (Jedi Journey), if people are interested!
Once again. Thanks for following and if you have any questions, please let me know. would love to help my fellow grinders out.
May the Force be with you!

So you literally did nothing but log on and check your status and one day you went from 6/7 to 7/7?
I would also be interested in seeing your journeys continue as a Jedi
