I know Im new here. Maybe its been talked about (sorry) maybe its not (hah). Maybe we can get a system message for the resets? It doesnt even have to be some generic countdown, maybe something like, "Time to take a moment to reflect your life." Or even, "Dont you dare start what your about to do at this time," kind of message. You know, just something to say its time...

A system message would get annoying since reset is every 2.5 hours

But would that be any more annoying than getting caught up in whatever you're doing, losing track of time, then suddenly seeing that, "Connection to SWG lost" message appear on screen?

I get where the OP is coming from. (I've personally considered setting a timer on my phone when I play.) On the other hand, since another thread mentioned that SWGEmu will be releasing their base code without the 2.5 hour reset code built in in the near future (which would, in turn, be implemented by Awakening), if that's not too far off, I can deal with no system message and start going that phone route.

Or you could keep track of that yourself? Not that hard to do. We aren't making any substantial changes for timers or reminders until the new engine is in place. Then we shouldn't need it, and it hopefully isn't that far away. Until then sir......get a watch ;)

Alternative "timer" that I've used: put in a roughly 2-2.25 hour movie. When it ends, it's time to start looking for that ideal pause situation/location. In the couple of minutes that it's resetting, find another movie around that length. When you log back in, start the movie. Lather, rinse, repeat.

There's a series of six movies that are all right at ideal length...Space Battles, or something like that. 8)

Many good responses. I didnt know what was involved in creating a system message like that. I thought it would be something simple to have "System Restart In 5 Minutes" like on some auto system server message. I can go on general occasionaly and inquire, or look really to see if it has been brought up to gauge it. I can alt tab and keep tabs on it, set alarms (even ingame alarms) Play in windowed mode or alt tabbing takes away from the experience for myself, unless Im trying to multi task.
Thanks for the responses

We had one at one that would alert you a 2:30 at one time. However that could be false, especially if the server was on a longer restart period. It will be pointless soon anyway. Once we put the new server engine in place it will restart once a day, at the same time every day, most likely 6AM EST.
