I wish to put forth this suggestion to create an entirely new skill tree, to be an "elite" skill above the Master politician skill tree level. Where as after a toon has reached master politician, which at that point it is assumed he/she is a active mayor of a player city, he/she may be enabled to then return to the politician NPC skill trainer, and then ask to be trained in this new proposed novice level skill of "Senator".
This new suggested skill of novice "Senator" would unlock/grant said toon a new path to enter into an new election cycle for the office of senator of the NPC city appropriate to the planet he/she is currently an declared resident of. As there are city halls in one each Capital NPC cities of each planet player housing is allowed (build-able) on.
This would require a ballot box be coded/rendered inside each of those NPC city halls, similar to the ballot box's now in player cities city halls. The novice senator would see a GUI to enter into the election cycle just as seen now in player cities. An election cycle period/length would have to be determined. The ballot box would then be open to receive votes from only declared residents of that particular planet. Thus declaring residence in your home player city, would double qualify as planet citizenship as well. Additionally if a novice senator choose to enter his/her name into the election for this planetary senator and won it, it would either automatically remove he/she as mayor of the player city, if he/she is a current mayor, or it would be required that he/she is not a current mayor of a existing player city. The GUI could be scripted in such a way to provide either a notification of this, or require this as a pre-cursor to even enter into this election cycle. As if someone did win this new election process, one could no longer be both mayor of a player city, and be senator of NPC city at the same time.
At this point the fun would begin. A mail would go out to all declared planetary citizens, that Player "X" has entered into this election, just as done in player city elections. At that point a yet to be determined election cycle would begin, and then conclude. I would suggest the same parameters would apply as we see now in player city elections to this other election cycle, entry deadline, citizenship, abstain choices, and so on. Candidates could then begin "campaigns" at that point, generating a new level of planetary social interaction, in order to generate the needed votes. Once a candidate was elected planet wide mail would be generated and go out that player "X" has won, he/she would officially have that city hall become their prime residence, they would loose residence in their home player city and then continue their campaign, to again earn the needed votes to earn further XP beyond the novice level title, while holding the position of senator of the city of "Corilla", or "THEED" for example. Now admin in a NPC city hall may not be possible, so that could not apply as the decor inside those is fixed in stone to players, however some sort of notifier/signage or on screen message notification when entering the given city limits may suffice.
Beyond this a skill tree would have to be developed as the new senator gets votes, and earns xp. Skills would have to be developed, mostly admin skills to be applied to a given planet. I have some further thoughts on this, but for the moment this has been enough to ponder. This new skill could be very unique to this Awakening server exclusively, and open up a new interaction path/need among all cities/guilds on each planet. It would give a new purpose to NPC city halls, and planetary options if a senator had a development skill tree that enhanced planets or the player cities on that particular planet he was the senator of. it would be a new dynamic of the politician skill line. It may be a coding nightmare, as I am not "code" savvy, and not even be possible, but it may be workable still in the long term.
As I said its just a suggestion, and it would require more depth in details for the entire skill tree all the way up to the full master title box of "Senator", but it seems an interesting thought, and thanks for the opportunity to present this suggestion.

I've always thought there should be an expansion in the political system. At this point on the story the Imperial Senate has been disolved. I brought up a similar argument in live as a political system could expand on the use of the profession. It's something to think about down the road. As far as creating a whole new Elite profession I'm not sure where that fits in with altering the client and legalities of if all.
With that said there is nothing keeping players from forming and making a political system. The crafters control the marketplace already. No reason why you can develop a political system and manage it yourselves. After all it's a player driven economy, why not create a politcal base of your own.
