After reviewing the goings-on in the /r/swgemu sub-reddit, I need a place to vent, and maybe a shoulder to cry on. Lol.

Feeling emotionally disturbed by all the flaming going on there. I thought I've seen my fair share of drama, but damn... Some people still believe Awakening hacked Bloodfin and the like... 'Shit seems so real, but it's all so phony. Sum it all up to jealousy, and/or Trolls with no lives, I guess.

Even worse, some are so disrespectful toward BigQEd there, in spite of the fact he and the team've provided a great service to SWG fans in the form of this server. Just making a small post saying I've enjoyed myself on this server is like uttering a racial slur at a civil rights rally to some people; it's that ridiculous. Don't make the mistake of asking these people to explain their feelings, I did, and I lost some IQ points and my anal virginity in the process. It probably doesn't help that I'm new, but I thought I knew human filth -- then I saw some of the trash that inhabits that sub-reddit.

I mean devs and founders slandering owners of other servers. . . It's as if they make their actual livings off of the donations they receive. It's dirtier than cut throat politics over there.

It was like staring into a black hole of negativity; a singularity of nothing but vitriolic misery. You're right, though. I take solace in knowing that while they're content with bickering and having no server being good enough for them, I'm playing on a great server and enjoying every step I take along the way.

reddit is easy to avoid. ive probably been to that site maybe 10 times ever and i have been using the internet since the internet became a thing

That drama was brought to you by Bloodfin, to distract from the fact they have idiot admins there. They let someone untrustworthy have access to the root of their server. They took advantage and really hosed their server. After they admitted what really happened they never once apologized. They still let their own community believe we were involved in some manner.

What we have concluded from many social media outlets is that the owner and his wife feed off of starting drama. I've found the best thing you can do with people like that is ignore them. Don't give them the attention they seek. Let their sicophants feed them what they crave and stay far away from the conversation. Don't engage them and let them sit over there and flounder. Reddit will continue to chew them up and spit them out.

I really don't like posting on reddit. I went ahead and responded to it. Some players will have threads and posts locked or deleted when we think it has either reached the end of what it needs to or the debate has taken a wrong turn. Some of our more overly passionate deep-thinkers can be easily offended or think they have more rights here then they actually do. Sometimes admins are going to piss players off. It's going to happen and most times i won't apologize for it. It's up to a player to realize they are stepping out of line. When they don't, I realize it for them. They don't always agree with it, but hey it is what it is. Whats more important, posting on the forums or playing the game? What are we all really here for?

I hate to say it, but such is the nature of volunteer-ware.

I can confidently say I have found a home here. No wipes, jedi to hunt, and an admin team who gets it.

I tend to be quite conservative on issues like these, so forgive me if I say "good riddance" when idiots vacate our little community here. I firmly believe this is THE place to play. Sure it isn't perfect, but it will be one day while we continue to grow.

Just know... there is a TON of jealousy from other servers towards Awakening, due to our success. There are some really small servers and failed servers that have betrayed their playerbase by wiping (i.e. Bloodfin), that have a very hard time attracting players and they can't figure out why... so they feel they need to attack the most popular server (Awakening).

Honestly, I don't care if they insult me. I know how good Awakening is and how great our community is.

Also, Reddit is a trolls heaven. A single person can make unlimited accounts and really there is no moderation.

Ya know gaming communities can be rough. The good thing about that is that it doesn't take much to move from one community to another. Surround yourself with those who strengthen you...forget the fools who try and keep you down.

They're constantly trying to fix issues, making things better, and I'll never forget the time the server went down and Ed stayed up all night trying to fix it. Awakening is the real deal and I'm really really happy I randomly discovered it after years of wishing I could play this game again. = )

Thanks! Yeah, there have been a few long nights to get where we are today. Just glad to have a community that understands SWG had it's bugs and issues even back in the day.... and they were paid and had a small army working it.

Awakenings growth has been more than I envisioned and I can only contribute that to attracting the right people and a little luck. I know I'm glad to be a part of the Star Wars Galaxies Awakening!
