I see this a lot of other servers and we will try to be a little more vigilant dealing with empty cities. Please take note if you leave for long periods of time your house, houses or buildings may be packed up. If this becomes too much of a issue to cleanup we will burn that bridge when we come to it.

Glad too see this, Active Players are more appreciated than having an empty server! =P

On that note, is the limit on building near POI still in place? I have seen some cities and structures in spots that made me wonder.

to clarify this point please.
A- I have to assume a "idle" time is yet to be established, or was such an "idle" time already set?
B- In this SWG server format does structure fees auto deduct from ones bank account? ( this should not include harvesters, as they should just go away once depleted of funds )
C- if so, once a bank account is totally depleted, do all of a toons structures get "condemned", and then a clock begins until total destruction?
D- upon the completion of the "condemned" time frame, do the structures go poof, with all its contents, never to be recovered? or are they in some way "packed up" for future recall with all their contents?
E- how do player NPC vendors fit into this situation? as some use vendors as deep storage inside their structures?

I was completely serious folks when I said were weren't allowing ghosts towns. I have removed 3 city halls in the last 2 months and will continue to do so.
#1 a mayor's account must be highly active. If you decide to form a city you are making a commitment to play on Awakening long term and with great frequency. Just because you have dumped tons of credits into structures does not mean your town is safe. Our current characters allowed per account it's easy to build a metropolis. We've upped the city requirements to cope with that a bit.
#2 If you know you or your mayor isn't going to be around be proactive. Make arrangements for a political shift. Not only would you lose your city hall, but all the structures that are civic related. That can take time and money to replace. You must be active and play with great frequency to have a city on this server. Logging in for 15 minutes per day won't cut it. We want active, vibrant player cities. Not monuments.
#3 I determine what falls into the category of a ghost town. If you've ventured off to play another game or play on another swg server you qualify as someone I am watching actively. We don't control what games or servers people play on however you are taking up server realestate that takes up space and resources. We do control that because it affects our active player base that wants to only play here.
Player houses are safe until the money runs out. You could find yourself in the middle of a new town with new taxes and a ruthless mayor. Don't make the mistake of not storing your things properly. If you are going to be on hiatus make sure you have your most important items in your inventory or in your bank. There is no house pack here.

I know how to treat ruthless mayors.. we just get someone else to go for mayor and vote the crappy one out lol... pretty simple really :p

This doesn't always work. The old mayor can still destroy the city hall on a whim if he doesn't like that someone is running against him.QuorTek wrote:I know how to treat ruthless mayors.. we just get someone else to go for mayor and vote the crappy one out lol... pretty simple really :p
EDIT: I think the "destroy structure" command should be disabled during the election cycle **IF** someone challenges the current mayor.

Condemned doesn't happen until they are out of money in their bank and the structure's durability drops below a certain point, prior to that it'll drain their bank credits when maintenance runs out to the tune of ~1 weeks at a time.

That reminds me, I still have those two houses I needed to place out there to store resources. Thanks for bringing that to the front of my attention. I'll get in game with you later about placing them.

I was hoping for us to have a housepack-up in the near future. Not sure when or if it could happen soon enough. I'd like for a house and it's contents get auto-packed 90 days past failure to login to character. If you aren't active for over 90 days you aren't really contributing to a city environment anyway.

How about an auction of condemned houses? Players who are not online for a while, can be warned that if they dont login, the structures will be sold to others players.

I would fully support that cynar would make it a lot easier, I'm currently got that issue at new order with a lot of residents inactive and got plans to turn new order to a business hub. Oh well I'll do it the hard wayI was hoping for us to have a housepack-up in the near future. Not sure when or if it could happen soon enough. What is the likelihood of your idea being implemented, Cynar?
