Defense stackers… what are they and how do you build them?
I get asked a lot what my build is. When I tell people, the first response is, “no medic?”
Depending on the content you are trying to do, medic is not necessary, not only that it can be a hindrance.
I have tried lots of iterations of a stacker, but this one, by far, has been my most successful.
For race I picked the Rodian, however the Zabrak will work well too.
MBrawler
This is first and foremost, all about intimidate 2 and lunge 2. Lunge 2 will KD something every time, unless it is on that internal cooldown where you cannot be knocked down again.
The benefit of Intimidate 1 and 2 being on a mob cannot be understated. It is the difference between needing heals and not needing heals.
MSwordsman
Simply the medium AP with blast and kinetic damage.
Pikeman 0040
The boost to your state def is amazing.
Fencer 2440
Again, people ask, “why only 2 boxes in that def line? You could get +27 more in ranged and melee def.” The mobs that are going to hit you at that point are going to hit you no matter what. Anything less then that will miss you so much it is ridiculous. Especially if you are running with Pikatta pie.
Teras Kasi 4304
Force of Will, state def, and pure defenses. Being able to meditate all the wounds and other states off is nice too.
Let’s look at some raw numbers (without racial mods) here:
Melee Def-144 Ranged Def-117
Def v. Blind-80 Def v. Dizzy-85 Def v. Intimidate-40 Def v. KD- 115 Def v. Posture down- 110 Def v. Stun-85
You can tape up to +125 in posture down and KD, hit over 100 for blind, dizzy, and stun. That is pretty fantastic. It sucks to be dizzy, or it sucks to be knocked down, however being knocked down and dizzy can be a death sentence. What I find is that either one of them will miss. For example, when a Krayt Dragon does its blast of states and KD, PanzerMkIV is still standing, or can get right back up. Rarely do I have to worry about the damage. Anyway, this is my build and why I use it. I will offer a build with medic in another post. Regards.

An alternative I use that is a little bit cheaper to tape if you wish to hit 125 in dizzy/kd at the expense of meditate (more or less):
Zabrak
Mswords
Mbrawler
Fencer 4440
Pist 0043
126 mdef, 91 rdef
110 dizzy
125 kd
80 pd
90 blind
100 stun
50 intim
Optional to take out xxx3 from pist and 4xxx from fencer to get 27 pts worth of medic as a safety. I don't since I don't purely use my stacker for high end mobs but it is a viable choice

R/M defense is almost worthless for anything you actually need a stacker to do efficiently.
If you want to do Acklay/Axkva/Spider/DWB I highly suggest dropping m/r defense boxes and TK/pikes and instead getting pistolsxx4x and medic. The OP build is basically good for Krayts but all of the above listed mobs will be more difficult than they need to be, if not completely impossible to solo.

Not bad builds at all. I'm pretty tough to hurt on Blackjack but he is not built for soloing. He is for main tanking for a group and PvP. Looking at your numbers and mine how ever I will say that yours are right where they need to be. I like more Melee and Ranged def because when I am weakened I still want to be above cap (with tapes and food I run 202 melee and 188 ranged). My state defenses are similar but you are better on stun. And I am not M Sword which is why it's not a solo build. Traded the sword mastery in to get tougher but TKM and M Fencer is not soloing kryats at least not in a timely manor. I am dependent on outside dps. In PvP I rarely get hit especially with pie and my other foods and the damage is normally in the single didgets when I do. I have done some cool things with that toon though.
I digress. My main point was to complement the builds here and to point out that stackers can be built for a variety of things not just soloing. I recommend every one have at least 2 purpose built for what you want to do. Silvaback is my other one but he is benched until 90% wookie armor comes back around.
Great thread,

I made another build for a guildie that was designed to be more forgiving. If you are not good at managing your consumables, weapon swapping, etc... I made one that has a lot of medic.
MBrawler
Again for Intim 1 & 2 and lunge2
MSwords
For Med AP and raw damage
TK 0304
States and Prim defenses
Fencer 0440
States
Medic 2340
Bleeds, speed and using Stim D's
The heals will let you pretty much take on all non-end content with ease. When you get to Prot, elders, and the larger Krayts, you are not quite defensively maxed out. Your Melee and range def are okay. With intim 1 and 2 it really makes it manageable with the heals. You just really need to pay attention to your mind pool. With havla you can heal all day.
My friend uses it and takes on mokks, lesser NS and SMC, Force crystal hunters, etc.. pretty easily.
