For the sake of putting it out there explicitly, I'm open/available to answer any questions AS may have about anything regarding the trade. I've been a practicing AS on the server for over a year now so there's a pretty good chance I'll be able to answer any questions or at least direct you to someone I think would know the answer.

Just for the sake of giving an idea for topics I'd likely be able to answer:
- Resources
- General info about non-composite armor types
- Crafting/experimentation tips/min maxing
- Indepth info on Composite of all kinds (Grind, Low Enc, High Base, Stun, etc)
- Armor Enhancement items (NS, Janta, Rancor, etc)
- RIS and to a limited extent Interwoven RIS
- Mandalorian Armor
- PSGs / Imperial PSGs

Probably won't be able to give a good answer regarding:
- Indepth questions regarding non-composite armors
- Most things about wookiee armor

Feel free to post here, send me a PM, or send a mail to Vulcan ingame - whichever suits your preference

A couple questions about experimentation came up from someone asking for advice. I see this sort of question a lot so I think it'd be helpful to copy/paste my response onto the forums for anyone's reference. Other AS, if you disagree or have any additions to what I responded feel free to contribute

Q1: During the entire experimentation process (layers or segments), how many "amazings" would you consider to be sufficient (assuming all other results are "great")

A1: Most of the time it doesn't matter for AS as you'll have enough points to hit max base/special with 12 great successes. In instances where amazing results will save you a point, it just will be an increase in condition or decrease in encumbrance, which is nice but not especially important most of the time.

There are a couple notable exceptions to this though. First, stun layers almost require at least a couple amazing successes to hit 3/13 (3 base, 13 stun). Without hitting at least 3/13 your stun armor will be a bit gimped. Second, RIS armor is also an exception due to not being able to hit max base/special with the base 12 points. In fact, you're very likely to not max out them without special consideration and some amazing successes. RIS crafting is its own beast and there's a lot involved that isn't especially relevant to the conversation though.

Q2: So far I've been experimenting one "box" at a time. Should I be experimenting several boxes at a time ?

A2: Doesn't really matter most of the time IMO - some people swear by doing it but I tend to think it's disadvantageous to do it box-by-box. Two reasons for my stance:
1. You use more crafting food - self explanatory.
2. The complexity of a manufacturing schematic increases per experimentation attempt so items that are experimented box-by-box will take longer to process in a factory than those that are made with 2 or 3

A counter-example of when it can be a good idea is that there are instances where you're able to save experimentation points by doing it one-by-one. If you think of the boxes as filling up from 0 to 100% full, the math sometimes works out that one box is 80% full, but is still shown as "empty" on the experimentation screen. This often comes up when there are seemingly 2 boxes left to fill in a given experimentation row. In such a case, it's possible that only using one experimentation point will fill both boxes instead of using 2 points. As you craft more you'll recognize such instances and in this sort of instance I would recommend it.

Appreciate this posting. As an up-and-coming (albeit slow grinding) AS, is there one particular archive that you would recommend reading to get started well?

Unfortunately I don't personally know of a good comprehensive guide. There may be one out there, but I learned most of what I know from personal testing and just found scraps of info here and there.

I can't speak to how accurate this still is, based on coding for the EMU as it may have changed and specifically this server, but this is a guide I have bookmarked for getting back into the game.

Royan

Would you prefer an instant message, post here , or in game email?

Now that I am master AS and have started compiling some nice resources, I do have Several questions for me going forward. Kind of next steps questions...

Thanks!

And thanks for the post on the old guide.

Forgot to say something here sooner until I was reminded by someone asking a question. I'm on an indefinite hiatus from the game so this offer is more or less closed. If I happen to be checking in and see a question in PMs, ingame, etc I'll probably answer it but there's no guarantee on a reasonable time frame for the response
