Hello all
Sorta New to SWG, I'm new to the game but I'm slowly figuring stuff out, others still remain a mystery. I am not new to Star Wars though, I've seen all the movies (even abhorrish remastered ones - I seriously hated the change in voices for the Storm Troopers & Bobba Fett), I regularly check out videos from Stupendous Wave about the EU (very informative & interesting), and recently subscribed to Star Wars Explained (mainly cause I wanna hear about the yousong vong - I know its not spelled that way).
I'm also not new to difficult MMOs, I've played:
- Hellgate London - Basically like Doom but in the sense of MMORPG with 3rd person & FPS views, lots of hellish enemies, a pretty decent loot system, and a pretty good story (to me anyways). Problems: Devs made the system requirements way too high for the current gen hardware, even those with the top of the line hardware had difficulty playing it. It was actually playable several years after it died. Plus there were numerous bugs, specifically quest bugs if you ran into them, your character is basically stuck there (you could abort quests & retake them, but the likelihood of running into it again on that same quest were pretty high). The license for the game is now owned by a Chinese gaming company & its been changed to "Hellgate Tokyo", there was a planned release date, but when the day came it was cancelled & put hold in development hell. Luckily, you don't need to be connected to the servers to play it, so if you want you can probably get it on ebay or amazon, just don't expect any updates or fixes. Yes I loved that game.
- Requiem Memento Mori - the name use to be different, but was oddly changed to "Memento Mori". Pretty similar to Hellgate London, but its heavy on the blood & gore. It plays like most mmos of today, but has a shock system in it (every time at midnight, in game time, the powerful monsters spawn) and instead of all monsters roaming specific areas 24/7, they only show up at certain times (one minute you could be farming some weak monsters, the next they'll disappear & be replaced by tougher enemies). It was a pretty good game, I saw it as the first horror survival mmo. You can probably still find it on Facebook, but the servers in terms of players are pretty much dead.
- The Secret World - This game is definitely different. You can choose a "class" setup to start, but after playing a bit of the actual game you'll find that classes are not locked. Unlock every skill in the game & setup your character however you please. Another thing that makes this game different is that MOST of the quests cannot be solved via the game (you'll find clues to actual history of the real world, if you wanna solve them, you'll have to do some research on the internet to solve them), many of them require you as the player to use your head to solve them. For combat, thats a bit more complicated. You can make a character build that is solely about bleeding enemies dry, it'll work on enemies vulnerable to it, but others are immune to those effects. Basically, its an mmo that expects you to think HARD about your character setup, figure out the best synergies for you, and use your knowledge (as a player) to finish quests.
This game is still active & still VERY tough, even with veteran players guiding you along.
As for myself as a person, I can't accurately & objectively explain me. I know my flaws better than I know my pros.
Flaws I know of about me: Anger issues, temperamental, overly analytical about pretty much everything, poor in terms of vocabulary, I do not understand most phrases (even if explained) & most if not all jokes, I tend to be argumentative even when I don't intend to be, socially awkward, and very complicated even to myself.
The pros about me? Honestly dunno. In that, you'd have to ask my friends that know me (Zodegis being the only personal friend on SWG), cause frankly I think I over exaggerate about myself in a positive way.
You could say I'm a Realist Optimistic Pessimist, in terms of Politics I dunno honestly, I'm in between the Conservative & Libertarian views, not totally Left or Right, just somewhere in the middle.
Anyways, doubt that sums me up, but its the best I can do for now without my head exploding.
Cheers all.
Edit: Figured I'd add this just in case.
Outside of playing games, I am in the process of making my own games. Now compared to most Indie Devs, I'm not knowledgeable about 3D Design or Programming or anything to with Game Designing, I'm a noob.
Been working on since I was 17, I'm 32 right now and I'm still in the "Concept Stage" - basically I'm creating a world that is like Earth but the size of Jupiter, has 3 moons, and 2 suns (one that is massive, the other is about the size of the planet), at least 5 continents, and dozens of time line start points (that bit I have yet to decide in the medieval time lines anyways).
I have the maps, which I keep modifying in effort to look more realistic or readable. I have the cities. I have the nations/kingdoms. I have dozens of races, some are personally made up whereas others are just renamed for originality purposes. I have a couple Pantheons, greater, lesser, divine, and dark.
My biggest problem though is not with the world, but myself - I keep wanting to add more, I keep wanting to expand on everything, cause before it was just one continent with a simple story laid out, but now its become humongous.
The few things I'm good at that helps this world I'm creating is imagination, I enjoy making maps, and coming up with on the fly names is easy for me. But my flaws that just prolong the time needed to finish it is my over analyzing, the need to be original, and my compulsive desire to keep adding even though other things I've added aren't finished. Ultimately, I do not know what to make it/them into in terms of game genres, another roadblock.
If you want to see SOME of it (I say some because I'm only showing a small portion), you can find it on a Facebook page called "Realm of Ulyssia" (Ulyssia being the patron goddess who is equivalent to Ao in Forgotten Realms Faerun). And note, much of what is on there is pretty old as I haven't updated the page in a while.
Greetings to all

Welcome to Awakening. It a game with a steep learning curve, but once you get past that, the depth to the game is unlike anything else ever. The community here is incredibly helpful and willing to explain how things work. If you google about the game make sure to search for Pre-CU. A lot of the stuff that came later doesn't apply and won't make a lot of sense.

Welcome! Glad you found the server. It is really the most supportive group of folks out there. Just note that most of the NPC cities, save Mos Eisley, are pretty just used as transit. The action is at player cities around the galaxy. If you have any questions or need help getting settled in, The Journeymen <TJM> are always willing to assist. Look forward to seeing you in game.
You need to list some toon names so we can add you, and contact you in game. From the responses in the other thread you posted, you are struggling with some basic understanding of the game. We can help with that. We need points of contact from you so that we can assist.
Come check us out in Bedrock (Entertainment district) and Mos Crumpit (research center), Tatooine. We have all the basic profession trainers, buffs, vendors, etc... AND the most beautiful location on Tatooine!

Zanderfel Kane (first name after a D&D character, last name after the Brotherhood of Nod's Leader) is my only character right now. My friend who's been playing for years (both the Sony & Awakening versions) has several characters, replaced one with a new character just to properly show me around & level with me (as he put it).
So far, only found Tusken's Bane to be the best on Tatooine in terms of PC (others like Crumpit look pretty dead). Sorta figuring stuff out on my own, but its definitely slow going.

Welcome to Awakening!
It's a great server with great people. As previously stated, its a game with a big learning curve. Once you have grasped the basics, it can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it. We are all here to help as much as we can. There is always someone who knows what you need to know.
It's good to have you!

Welcome back to Awakening!
We have a great set of people on our server.. shout out if in Neutral if you need any help!!!
There are a number of good towns and guilds. Personally I would start with what planet you like best and go from there. If you plan on being a crafter you want a crafting Research town, preferably one that has ties to a town that has plenty of merchants to sell your wares. If mainly for adventuring go with a Entertainment district for 3 hour buffs.. just make sure there's a 24/7 entertainer and a doc set up there, or a Improved job market for more cash.
I hold Serenity Naboo (Entertainment district) and our new research town 200m from the Serenity shuttle will be ready in just a few weeks. I can tell you we always are open to new and returning players and happy to help you along. No matter where you decide, if you need help feel free to reach out and ask!
