Awakening FAQ

Awakening Frequently Asked questions

What is Star Wars Galaxies?

Star Wars Galaxies was a Star Wars themed massively multiplayer online role-playing (MMORPG) made for Microsoft's Windows Operating System. The game was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. Star Wars Galaxies was initially released on June 26, 2006 and later officially shut down on December 15, 2011 after receiving numerous content expansions and major updates.

What is Star Wars Galaxies Pre-CU and why bring it back?

Star Wars Galaxies Pre-CU (Pre-Combat Upgrade) refers to the game as it was played during and prior to the publish 14.1 of the game, just before the "Combat Upgrade" (CU) was implemented. This period of the game existed from launch until the Combat Upgrade's release on April 27, 2005.

Many SWG fans agree that Pre-CU was the high point of the game, while the level based CU update changed the game for the worse.

It is our goal here at SWG Awakening to bring SWG Pre-CU back to the masses in all its glory.
