Unread post SWG Awakening Launcher 2.0.0 Is Live
- Posted by: Cyclone » Thu Aug 20, 2026 10:14 am
- Forum: Announcements
The launcher just hit a major version bump - 2.0.0. This release is mostly about reliability: A massive backend overhaul took place to modernise the system which underpins the launcher. Patching is smarter about recovering from interruptions, and a bunch of edge cases that used to leave people stuck mid-patch are fixed. Better handling of the zoom selector and FPS changes are also included.
If you already have the launcher installed it should automatically download the new version next time you open it.
Highlights
- Automatic patch retry. If a patch is blocked because a game client is still open, the launcher now holds it and starts automatically once every client is closed — no more failed patches that force you to run Verify Files manually.
- Patches resume, not restart. If a patch gets interrupted, the launcher picks up where it left off instead of re-checking every file from scratch.
- Better handling of files locked by a running client. If a patch needs a file that's in use, you'll get a clear message instead of a raw/silent error.
- Safer file updates during patching. File replacement is now done in a way that won't destroy a good existing file if an update can't complete.
- Server switching is blocked while a client is running, preventing a broken half-installed state where the new server saves but its files fail to apply.
- Network drops during patching are now detected and recovered from automatically on reconnect.
- New zoom control - replaced the old dropdown with an interactive slider/popover (with Near/Far labels).
- FPS change notice. After changing your FPS setting, the launcher now tells you to expect a delay on your next launch instead of leaving you wondering.
- Clearer messaging during deferred patches - the launcher tells you whether a patch is waiting to start or was interrupted partway, and confirms when it resumes on its own. Hitting Cancel during this wait just stops the waiting; it won't abort a patch that's already in progress.
- Improved Discord Rich Presence reliability.
- Fixed an incorrect SWG Awakening website link on the launcher's credits panel.
- Various smaller stability and setup-wizard polish fixes.
Known Issues
None known at this time.

Unread post Web Server & Forum Maintenance (Complete)
- Posted by: Cyclone » Mon Aug 17, 2026 5:08 am
- Forum: Announcements
Greetings Awakening,
I've just wrapped up a round of behind-the-scenes maintenance on our web server and forums. Everything is back online and running better than ever.
These forums have become something of a living archive - years of guides, discussion and hard-won knowledge that our community still leans on daily. That history is worth protecting, so we've made sure the platform holding it is on solid footing.
Here's what changed under the hood:
Security hardening - I've updated phpBB to a current, patched release, closing off known vulnerabilities and strengthening the platform that safeguards your accounts and everything catalogued here.
Server modernisation - The underlying operating system and packages have been fully updated, improving stability, performance and long-term reliability.
Awakening, preserved - All of our custom features, extensions and the Awakening theme have been carefully re-merged and updated to sit cleanly on top of the new version. The forums keep the look and functionality you know, now on a stronger, more secure foundation which should provide a better mobile experience.
None of this is glamorous work, but it's the kind of upkeep that keeps this website which handles account creation and updates for the game server, along with our forum archive intact and accessible for years to come. As always, you can still post on the forums, should you wish, but Discord is definitely the community's preferred avenue for interaction. I look forward to catching you all in the galaxy!

Welcome to July's Balance sheet
- We started the month with $303.30
- Ended the month with $449.87
- Total income was $480 from a total of 9 donations
- Total expenses were $333.43 The new server costing $145.40 for the continuing migration process. Cyclone has provided an update on the 28th of March 2026: I’ve rebuilt a few backend systems from scratch and added a new CI/CD pipeline (for test center update pushing for Koorlbardi & DoubleDragon to test future changes independently, I’ve got most critical systems up and running now. I just need to setup a couple more critical systems and then some other backend systems and automations. After that I need to test it all before we cutover to the new server (hardware) I’m just about to login and see where I was up to with the new web server. That was the main roadblock left. Then it was just porting across some backend commands and scripts, plus getting staff to jump on and test it.
- Another update was provided on the 9th of June 2026: I’ve completely uprooted my life and moved to a different state, got a new job, etc. My life has been a bit hectic.
