Hello Awakening,

As a result of last month’s announcement (see: Awakening Needs You!), Dirge is no longer in a position to cover the monthly shortfall after donations. We put out the call, and you all came together in an incredible way - so much so that The Galaxy Thrives On!

As part of our ongoing commitment to the community, the Admin team will now be posting a monthly balance sheet where you can review our incomings and outgoings. My real life job is in accounts and finance within small business and the not-for-profit sector, so I naturally put my hand up for this role - accountability is paramount when it comes to community-funded initiatives!

I'd like to run through a few key points before posting our first monthly review.

• All incoming and outgoing expenses listed are those charged to the Awakening PayPal account. This account remains tied to Dirge’s personal information, so we do not have direct access to it. 2FA and other security features prevent shared logins. We do, however, receive the automatically forwarded notification emails for donations and expenses. Dirge will also forward the monthly PayPal reports when time permits so we can reconcile the running balance sheet.
  
  
• PayPal fees vary based on the donor’s location. PayPal charges a 2.89% + $0.49 USD fee for U.S. donations; international donations incur an additional 1.5%. For simplicity, we have calculated all fees at the maximum possible rate (2.89% +1.50% + $0.49 USD). Actual fees will be lower, so the balance sheet reflects a conservative estimate. • Expenses will vary month to month depending on when quarterly or annual costs fall due, in addition to our regular monthly expenses. Based on Dirge’s historical averages, our expected monthly cost is $220 USD, which is why our goal is currently set at this amount. This figure may change after our server migration, at which point we will reassess our projected yearly expenses to determine an updated donation goal that covers expected costs and includes a buffer to provide a safety net for any one-off payments that may arise.
  
  
• Any savings listed on the balance sheet will be carried over as the starting balance for the following month. Once the PayPal reports are received, we will adjust the values to reflect the lower actual fees. The donation tracker on the website may differ because it will reduce by $220 each month to cover average expenses and maintain a buffer for irregular costs.
  
  
• Expense and income categories will vary each month depending on what comes in and what goes out. Our two regular expenses are server hosting and PayPal fees. Donations are split into one-off and renewal contributions.

Hello Awakening,

Another year has come and gone it seems, I guess time flies when you're having fun battling the forces of evil throughout the Galaxy. Awakening will be 11 years old on the 8th of November, and what an amazing adventure it has been.

On behalf of all staff, we wish to express our heart felt thanks for your overwhelming response to our recent fund raising efforts. After the anniversary celebrations have concluded Cyclone is planning to put together a little update as to where Dirge and him are at with their plans for the server migration and Koorlbardi's plans for our financial reporting.

This year's celebrations will begin with the server reset on Monday 3rd of November, and run through the following reset on Monday the 10th. All accounts that login during this time frame will receive a unique badge in honor of the week long celebration, as well as a random selection of paintings from the 2025 Anniversary collection. As a bonus, an additional 1x XP boost will be active for this weeklong celebration (along with the donation goal being met, this will bring us up to 3.5x XP).

• Imperial Investigation (Hidden Prize Box Event)
  The Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) has been cracking down on the notorious Rogue Chiss faction for 5 years now. Our never ending efforts to exterminate this criminal faction has managed to chase them into deep hiding throughout the galaxy. However, it would appear that several shipments of Rogue Chiss armor have gone missing from the Imperial Security warehouse on Lok. All loyal citizens of our Glorious Empire are instructed to be on the look out for these items. It is rumored that these armor collections consist of both "Rogue Chiss Hunters" armor, and "Rogue Chiss Guardsman" armor.
  
  How it works: The Hidden prize boxes (the treasure chests available for rent from the NPC Event Coordinators for reference) will be placed at random times throughout the week long celebration. Staff will announce when the boxes are placed, and all boxes will expire 24 hours after they are placed. All players are permitted to take 1 item from the prize box, and we ask that you not use alts to clear out any boxes you find, to allow other players an opportunity to participate in this event. A Sample of the available styles of Prize Boxes will be dropped in front of the City Hall in the Rogue OutPost, Naboo. These are empty and will expire 1730 Tuesday (deployed)
  
  Active Boxes: An announcement will be posted here with the expiration time of all boxes placed in the galaxy. Note: at the present all boxes are being hidden within City Limits!

• Crafting Event
  The Rogue Outpost Chamber of Commerce (ROCC) requires your assistance in acquiring the following items to assist in preparation for the celebrations.
  
  How it works; starting around 08:00 after reset Monday, the Event Coordination staff will announce the first of 5 crafting items^* to be created or resources gathered, and to be dropped off at a vendor located in the Rogue Outpost (-1020 -5572 Naboo). The final item must be crafted by the character submitting the entry (component pieces may be made by others, but must still meet any requirements requested). Items will be announced daily, until all 5 items have been listed. In order to ensure accuracy and to make things easier to track, only entries dropped off to the vendor will be accepted as valid. The time remaining on the vendor offering will be used to determine who was first to submit each item.
  
  ^*Crafting items will only need a skill level of Master Artisan or lower, the name of the item (and or subcomponents) will need to meet that which was specified by the Event Coordination staff, to prevent submission of items produced prior to the event.

    • First to get all 5 in will win the grand prize, time remaining on the final of the 5 items to be submitted by any character will be used to determine the fastest.
    • The grand prize is a resource deed as awarded through the veteran rewards system.
  • Every participant who submits all 5 items before the scheduled restart on the 10th will receive an accolade badge on their crafting character.

• Live Events
  • DWB Jetpack and Mandalorian Armor Run
    At 2100 EST Saturday 8th of November 2025, the Event Staff will gather a group in an attempt to craft a Jetpack in the Death Watch Bunker. Staff will provide the parts for the Jetpack & a Droid Engineer/Master Artisan, but NO FURTHER STAFF ASSISTANCE/DIRECTION WILL BE PROVIDED. It shall be up to the community to come together to accomplish this and figure out how to survive the attempt, as well as provide the team members required. On the Awakening server, the DWB is a challenging place to be, so this will require some conversation among the community, and the correct group mix, doctor & medics are a must. Again, no Staff intervention will be provided. If the group is successful, the resulting Jetpack will be awarded to the survivor of a round of Dice of Death!
    
    • If the Jetpack group is successful, a second run will be attempted to craft a Mandalorian chest plate. The staff will provide the parts and the required crafting professions, but it is up to the group to know how to run down to the correct room to actually craft the chest plate. Again, no Staff intervention will be provided. If this group is successful, the resulting Mandalorian Helmet will be awarded to the survivor of a round of Dice of Death!
  • Race Track
    The SWG Awakening racing team is proud to announce the commencement of our longest running race track yet. This Race track will be active for scoring from 0801 Monday thru 2359 Sunday night. As this is an epic race time, it only seems fitting that the track will be an epic one. the Race track is now active: Lok, Marathon Track 629 5055 Nym's Outpost.
    
    How does it work? All finish times recorded by our internal race tracker will be entered into the appropriate race. There will be a Grand Prize for all characters not possessing Force Run 2 or 3 (FR2, FR3) and a secondary Jedi race for all characters having those skills. Note, our logging system does not track the use of force run, only the possession of the skill. If you wish to enter in the Grand Prize race, you must use a character that does not have Force Run 2 or Force Run 3. The Grand Prize for this epic race will be a Rare Vehicle of the winners choice. The current status of the race track will be updated every day or two to show the leaderboard. Frequency of the leaderboard update depends on staff availability, but don't worry, all times are always being recorded, so just go for your own personal best time if you are uncertain. Also, please note the race tracks public time tracker resets every day around 0800, so it will only show the current day's race track leader.

Thanks to your generosity, we’ve now reached $911 of our $340 stretch goal (268%)! Every bit helps keep Awakening running - covering server hosting, maintenance, and all the infrastructure that keeps the galaxy alive. Huge thanks to everyone who’s chipped in so far.

New: Recurring Monthly Donations

We’ve also added a recurring donation option for those who’d like to support Awakening on an ongoing basis. This makes it easy to automatically contribute each month, helping us maintain more stable and predictable funding for the future.

You can choose any amount for your monthly donation, though we do have some easy select options ($10, $25 & $50) as well.

Recurring donors receive the same recognition and title options as one-time contributors.

You can modify or cancel at any time through PayPal.

If you prefer one-time donations, that’s still completely fine - this just adds another convenient option for those who want to "set and forget."

We’re thrilled to share some incredible news - thanks to your overwhelming generosity, we’ve not only reached but surpassed our October donation goal!

Together, the community has raised $660 USD so far, out of our $340 stretch goal (194%), with 23 total donations contributing to this amazing milestone. Your support ensures that SWG Awakening’s future is secure for the months ahead and allows us to move forward confidently with our planned server migration - bringing improved hardware, performance, and stability to our galaxy.

A special thank-you goes out to our two largest donors, each contributing $100 USD, and an equally heartfelt thank-you to everyone who donated any amount - from $5 to $50 and beyond. Every dollar has truly made a difference in reaching this goal and ensuring we remain funded.

Community Rewards Activated

As promised, reaching our October goal has unlocked a 3x XP modifier for the entire server, active for the rest of the month. This is our way of saying thank you to everyone for helping to keep the galaxy alive - now get out there and make the most of it! We will also be turning on a 10% increase in the yellow modifier drop chance on looted items for the rest of October, this will be active from next Monday's scheduled server restart.

Looking Ahead

Any donations made in excess of this month’s goal will roll over toward November’s target - and each month thereafter, if there’s enough in surplus - helping us get a head start on keeping Awakening online and fully community-funded for the long term. So, if you haven’t had a chance to donate yet but were thinking about it, now is as good a time as any to contribute to the future of Awakening.

We’re also exploring options to introduce a recurring donation system in the coming months. This would allow supporters to set up automatic monthly contributions, making it easier to help sustain Awakening without needing to donate manually each time. Once we’ve finalized the details, we’ll share an update on how it will work and what options will be available.

In addition, Koorlbardi is preparing a balance sheet-style breakdown of Awakening’s hosting and operational costs. This will provide everyone with a clear view of where donations go, what our monthly expenses look like, and how funds are allocated - ensuring full transparency as we transition into being a completely community-funded project. We are still deciding exactly what format this will take and the frequency with which we will be publishing this.

Our goal is to make supporting Awakening as simple and transparent as possible - ensuring that 100% of all donations continue to go directly toward hosting, maintenance, and keeping the galaxy thriving.
